Yesterday I got 5100's put on the front of my tacoma by les schwab. i told them i wanted it leveled out and it was about 1.5 inches. When i returned to pick it up i instantly noticed it was much higher in the front. Took my tape measure out and it's a whole inch higher in the front than the back. When i went inside to pay i asked clerk about it and he had the tech that did the work come in just to verify it was set at the right level. The tech then said they go up in increments of 0.5in and he set it on the top notch so that would be 1.5in. since i picked it up on my lunch at work yesterday i didn't have time to hash it out with them.
Now i plan to go back there and tell them they didn't install correctly which is what i paid for and to either redo the work they already did to lower it down to the 1.75 setting or try to talk them in to putting a 1.5in aal on the rear to rid my lean since it would be about the same dollar amount as the labor was for the install of the 5100s with the alignment.

drop 5100's down a notch to level

    or

    1.5" aal to meet 5100's at 2.5"

    any thoughts?

Go with an AAL. It's nice to be lifted.

Setting the bilstein at top notch is 2.5in lift, not 1.5.

Now here's the thing. If you leave the fronts at 2.5", a 1.5aal will level the truck out. If you set it at 1.75" lift, some people say the front end is a hair higher. So in the end, you might want to put a 1.5 aal if that bothers you.

Also, size tires could determine what you want. Stock tires on 1.75 looks better than on a 2.5" lift.

I know the top setting is 2.5" but the techs logic was that the top setting was 1.5" based on each inch being 0.5in increments.

This is why you do your own work. No messups and if there are then it's your fault and you don't have to explain anything to someone who has no clue

Just stopped by les schwab and one of the workers had an extra add a lead Bc he didn't know it came in his kit so I'm gonna get that with a free install. I guess it's my lucky day

If you stay with 2.5" you may find you need adjustable UCAs. I ran into that problem and couldn't get the right caster adjustment. You may not need it though, some people have 2.5" on factory UCAs.

1.5" at the shock equals 2.5" lift - somebody needs a math and geometry lesson. The LCA is a lever, and moving it downward 1.5" at the shock mount moves the end of the lever (ball joint and spindle) further down, so 2.5" roughly.

Sounds like you've got a decent deal with the AAL unless you need to correct your caster.
