Can someone inform me about these two models. Is the TRD really worth the extra money ? Why?
    Thanks ahead.

Depends if you're looking at the TRD Sport or TRD Off-road. Mostly with the TRD packages you get nicer wheels, bilstein shocks, 115V power outlet in the bed, and of course, cool stickers.

The TRD model has better, more comfortable seating. A set of wet okole seat covers would be a good investment either way.

The ladies love the trd sticker.

I agree about the seats. It is a good upgrade

Do some research at Toyota website and they will give you a list of all the specs of each. See what you think you will need/what is worth it to you and then drive a few

Removed factory bed cover and installed UnderCover Elite. Added LOCKERDOWN console safe.
As said: The seats are more comfortable. Well worth the money (IMO). Added leather and even better.

If you plan on doing a lift or any other suspension mods all that TRD stuff comes off. I stayed with the SR5 because I knew I wouldnt have all that later...

If you're having a hard time deciding between the OffRoad and Sport model, this is what I use to explain it to my friends (All credit to Beavis)

This is what was a big issue for me so I settled on the SR5.

Better seats would be nice though, I get a good amount of windshield time.

You're lucky if you get to choose. I wanted a manual 4x4 DC not in white, blue, or red and there were no TRDs anywhere. There were actually none at all in my 3 state region so I had to drive to the next region a state away to even get an SR5. I love it. I would have removed the stickers, hood scoop and alloys anyway. The seats and 115v bed socket would be nice though.

Don't let them sell you on running boards or wind/bug deflectors or the 'special' packages either (IMHO). If you are dead set on the TRD offroad, get it or the SR5.

You can color match the grill and bumpers (I color matched the grill and blacked out the rear bumper) easily.

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
When I was shopping for a Tacoma, the TRD package was a must. The seats are so much more comfortable, IMO, in the TRDs than the base/SR5.

Sometimes when I'm hauling items like my bike, I wish I went with the 6 foot bed so i could close the tailgate.

It really depends on what you're looking for...

If you're planning on doing a lot of mods yourself, it may be a big waste of money, as you'd be paying for stuff you're gonna replace anyway.

For some, the TRD packages are worth it just for the interior amenities, such as the seats, which many have mentioned...most of the TRD models are more "fully loaded" in terms of features than the SR5.

If you're gonna be doing serious or frequent off-roading, then I'd highly consider the TRD-Offroad, as many others here have. If you just need 4WD to deal with occasional adverse conditions, the TRD-Sport or SR5 models will probably do just fine.

The TRD-Sport of course comes with more "aesthetic" features, which to many aren't very important compared to performance.

Long story short, there's no single answer to your question, as it really depends on what you plan on using the truck for and your own personal preference...no matter what you pick, there will be folks here that agree with your choice, and there will also be plenty that don't.

    He got it right.

So go sit in all three and take the SR5, the Offroad, and the Sport for a drive. Find one that is comfortable for you, does not vibrate, does not ping, has the stuff you want, and buy that one. Oh by the way go to truecar.com and find out a fair price and deal with the internet salesman. Most of them get paid for selling a car not a commission on the price of the car.

I didn't want to pay the extra money for things I won't use the truck for. Some guys go rock crawling, some go trailing, some haul stuff, some just lift up the truck and put big tires on it and drive around town, some lift up the truck and put big tires on it and hit the off road. It's up to you

My truck takes me fishing, down some county roads to get to ponds, through the snow and mud, Boy Scout Camp, etc.

Drive both and spend some time in them. For me the TRD seats are a must. I prefer the TRD Off-road but wanted the DCLB, so Sport it was.
