Well with my Truck delivery date in the 6/3-6/7 time frame... I guess its time to shop that controversial warranty. I know many of you say "don't get it"... "its a waste of money"..."the best deal on them is to not buy one"... Those comments are not very helpful and basically just wast your time and mine. I'm posting on this site to get the best information possible. I'm trying to get it for the best price possible. I have emailed 37 dealers in the area and should hopefully get some prices back. I will post the "best prices" I find once I tally it up... and sort through the fluff. Hopefully it will help someone else out who shares my feeling for the ext warranty.

I have asked for prices for the:

    Toyota platinum coverage plan”

    5/80
    5/100
    5/125
    6/75
    6/100
    6/125
    7/75
    7/100
    7/125
    8/75
    8/100
    8/125

OP, here is my experience with extended warranties, I did get one and had it for 2 yrs, a lot of people do not realize that if you sell the car and do not use the warranty you can get money back, I did just that, I paid 1k for mine it was platinum and sold the vehicle, I called the company the warranty was with and within 2 weeks I had a check for 675.00 not bad for a piece of mind. Wish you the best with whatever you get. BTW welcome to the world.:D

Depending on the amount you are financing if it's worth it but they offer lower rates if you get the extended warranty. Mine came out $20.00 cheaper for getting the 5/100 zero deductible extended warranty. You don't have to twist my arm to jump on that. Unfortunately for me the warranty will only last two years as I drive about 50,000 miles a year for work. These are great trucks with minimal amount to no major repairs by the time those warranties expire. I would not have gotten it unless it lowered my interest rate. I have great credit but it got me a lower rate. In the end you are rolling the dice if there is going to be any major repairs. The odds are in your favor that major repairs are not going to happen but there is no way to know. If you are mechanically inclined I would only get it if it lowered your rate. My two cents. Well more like three cents. Hope it helps!

Heated mirrors from @Up2NoGood. 5100 Bilstein all four corners.
Platinum 8/75k for $1790. My annual mileage will only be about 10k so it's worth it to me. Think about the electronic end of it if something goes bad or a transmission, transfer case..etc. Yeah, I know these are great trucks but it can happen. Just depends on what's important to you.

    Prices are as follows:
    5/80- $625
    5/100- $805
    5/125- $950
    6/75- $660
    6/100- $900
    6/125- $1170
    7/75- $745
    7/100- $1040
    7/125- $1295
    8/75- $860
    8/100- $1190

Yes, you can haggle over the price. We got it on my wife's car. She drives a lot of miles and the regular warranty would be over very quick. We did a 6/100,000 miles. Not a Toyota car, a Subaru. With all the high tech stuff on vehicles today it's worth it. Years ago was a different story. You could have a easy $3,000 or more bill for some electronic part.

Platinum plan 8 year/75000 miles $634. My pricing was 2012 from Jerry J at Midwestern in KC back in the day when you could buy over internet out of state.

dads 89 had 300k on it when he sold it (still running with 500k on the clock)... his 04 taco has 220 on it, moms 07 4 runner has 120 on it, and my 2013 taco has 10k on it.... none have EVER had any issues.

aka, save your money dont buy an extended warenty... you dont want to deal with a dealer anyways. you get 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/60k powertrain..... from the factory for free.

Troy got back to me today and said all I need is an address of a friend or relative from the same state (Massachusetts )..... Anyone from Massachusetts willing to help out? Lol

Finance guy pulled the lower rate crap on me. I called him on it and got the lower rate without warranty. Just part of their bag of tricks.
