Greetings fellow Taco Lovers!!! I installed my new to me Snugtop Camper Shell Xtra Vision yesterday according to Snugtop's installation instructions including torque specs and as I drive down the road and look in the rear view mirror it seems to wobble and shake as I hit little bumps and dips in the road ... If I drive across something larger like a pothole it's worse and sometimes looks quite scary. I've pulled over to check and see that all the mounting hardware is still on and everything is "Snug" no pun intended... Is this normal or am I being just paranoid?

Make sure that the mounting hardware is all the way under the lip of the bed rails. If they are not, the bolts will tighten down all the way but are not all the way on in the bed rails.

So it should be under the bottom of the "C" channel and not the middle?

It should be inside the channel. What I am talking about is sometimes it might feel like the bracket is inside the channel but it is actually just resting on the lip. Make sure it is inside all the way.

Yes it is definitely inside all the way. I just went outside to check.

    Pretty much this.

I have owned several trucks with shells on them, all have done it to some degree. Guessing that the unboxed rear frame on the 05+ trucks allows for more flex then the earlier trucks, making it more noticeable.

Getting a Snugtop shell installed on my 2010 tomorrow, will see how much mine moves around.

I like the looks of Snugtop's various models. However, I've never gotten a shell because my family thinks it's the biggest redneck thing I could do to my truck...and I live in TX. Redneck is a state sport.

I would think not getting a shell would be more redneck. Riding in the back and nobody can forget putting a swimming pool in the bed!

    Update:
Got mine installed and kept an eye on it during the drive home.

Yeah, there is some movement back there, but the bed moves right along with it. Does not appear to be excessive compared to the other trucks I have had with shells on them.

For those who consider shells "redneck", well, some of us work for a living and need a dry, somewhat secure place to put all our redneck accouterments (tools, work materials, stuff from Costco, etc).

Also, an indoor truckbed swimming pool is more awesomer.

I loaded it up for a camping trip this weekend and ended up on some bumpy roads and it held up just fine. Thank you everyone for your input. I feel much better about it now...:D
