Damn. G/L either way with it. That's a real shame. Like others have said, I have heard of a couple others on here stolen, and makes you think. Chipped key is a deterrent, but like anything else, if they want it they'll take it.

Damn. Sorry to hear about that.

If you get it back, or on your next truck, you need the "Anti-Theft Grenade in the Driver's Seat Mod" so if someone tries to steal it, it'll blow the bastard's nuts off.

Just spoke with the usaa guy, he says they will give it 2-3 weeks for it to turn up. If it does not they will give an "upgraded value" for the suspension and all add ons that I listed, but I have to do a separate claim for my gym bag and items that were in the car.

It also does still have Texas plates

He sympathized with me because he also is a tacoma bro and "they'd have to pry his cold dead hands off of his 2001 with 300,000 miles on her".

This makes me want to look into kill switch, steering wheel club etc. I know they're worthless if they're pros but it has to be some sort of deterrent...?

That's great news. Atleast you'll recover some money for your mods. a few years back I had a Charger RT w/ a $3000 sound system but didn't get a penny for it :((

    This is suspicious as fuck!
Good to hear they are going to help you out with the ad ons. My insurance company covers all my mods as long as I have pictures of them on my truck. (State farm)

And sorry to hear about it. Hopefully the fucking thieves get caught!

That sucks brother. This reminds me of my stolen 1984 Toyota pickup, I was pore pissed when I saw it striped at the junk yard than when I notice it was stolen. Good luck!

God damn, and i thought the immoblizers were a sure thing. I can't see how they bypass the immobilizer and got the truck to start. Compustar alarms are a go.

OP, sorry to hear about this. I will keep an eye out around the Bay Area for you. This is too close to home and it's the 2nd or 3rd time I've heard of a 2nd gen Tacoma getting stolen around here. Another local member in SF just got his stolen right in front of his house about 2wks ago I believe.

I just created a post for you in our Norcal section.

That's a valid point. If pressure is brought to bear on the local merchant with the end result being a drop in business, the merchant will then pressure those in power to step up efforts to catch these bastards and to keep the area safer.

Good luck with it. Sounds like the OP has a lot of people keeping an eye out in the area. I'd love to see some justice on this. This does make me think about a kill switch and/or alarm.
