It's a little more than just swapping out motor and trans. You still need the ecu, harness, then see if the under dash harness plugs into the ecu. If not then you have to wire that

It would probably be easier to just trade it in on a v6.

Can I lower a new 6 cylinder to the height of a four cylinder . About a 6 " difference?

Yes, they are available. You can put the V6 into the spot of a L4 in that year frame, but as mentioned, the cost of doing the swap over exceeds to cost of just selling the truck and buying another that already HAS the V6 in it.

Toyota never made a 5 lug V6 tacoma.
(exceptions for S-runner, X-runner and there were some early 1st gen Tacoma extracabs with the V6).

Shame. A V6 standard cab, 5 lug truck would be quite the little hotrod, especially supercharged.

I would have skipped the X-Runner package had toyota built an access cab V6 5 lug.

Thanks for the responses. I'm now talking to dealerships to see if they can make one for me. They are hot on the trail LOL!

I miss the 5-lug, V6 option from the 80's, 90's and Gen 1 years. Personally, my ideal 2nd gen would be a 2014 Reg cab, with 8' box option, 5-lug chassis, manual trans and 4.0L.

They used to make this combination in the late 80's and early 90's called (1-ton)
