    Hello world

I've read a bunch of thread and tried to find in the stickys but I'm not quite getting it.

I (over) leveled the front, then later bought a 1" block and my truck looks good, my mechanic said to buy a longer shock bc the stocker is maxxed in length. Seems everybody uses 5100s, that's cool but I can't figure out which ones to get... Do some of then actually lift the truck? how?

I just need 1-2" longer for travel. It seemed i needed the 186728s but Amazon said no, my Taco is DC4wd 2007

Please excuse my lack of TW savvy.

I am not 100% sure of which shock to get, but I can definitely say the 5100s are the way to go. I have ran them on my FJ and my Tacoma. I would give Toytec or another forum vendor a call and see what they say. They are the experts!

Rear shocks don't lift. The springs do the lifting. Shock are just to adsorb the bumps and what not. If your shock is maxed out (extended) it can and will be messes up in a few months. If it last that long.

^That. Depends on money. 5100's are good up to an inch. Maybe look into Fox, King or Icons if you want some top of the line shocks.

FYI the 5100 standard non extended length shocks have all of .5 inch's (thats 1/2 of an inch) of extra extension over the stock TRD shocks, and about .5in extra compression (which wont get used due to the bump stops). so going 5100's is not going to really make a difference

The 5100 extended length ones are too long on the compressed lenght unless you have a solid 2in block on the 4 leaf pack / or a MUCH much thicker leaf pack, as their compressed length is 16.34in and in stock form with the 4 leaf pack you need right at a 14.5-14.75in compressed length to not bottom the shock before the bump.

I would suggest Old Man Emu N182's ... they offer an extended length another inch longer than the 5100 (so from stock trd to n182 you are looking at an extra 1.5in of extension) and about .75in of extra compression over the stock trd shocks as well.
