This morning I went out to the garage to go to work. Before opening the garage door I heard a continuous humming sound coming from the fuel tank area. It sounded like the fuel pump, but I guess it could be some kind of smog pump (who knows). It turned off as soon as I turned the key one click towards the on position.
So, what the hell was the noise, and was it going on all night?

Neat, thanks. So I guess it just turned on because it knew I would be going to work soon.

Seriously though, does anyone know if it's normal for some kind of pump to kick on 12 hours or so after the truck was last used?

    LOL

Mine did it once also and it freaked me out. I was just going to ask the dealer about it the next time I was in there.

I put my owner's manual in the bathroom. That way I'll read it once in a while. :D

Every new owner flips the F*** out the first time they hear this, if the Taco is garage kept (unless you live in a very quiet neighborhood)! My brother and dad both have early 2nd gens and theirs don't do it, so that made it worse thinking something was wrong!

    It's normal as others stated
