Same here. Although I wouldn't say mine was "too big" (08 CrewMax 5.7l 4x4) but more like "bigger than I liked and needed".

I have 3 little ones. The full size makes more sense for me

My wife and I have been driving full size trucks for years (20 years).
You get use to not parking in the closest spot to the Wal-Mart front door.
You back into parking spot because objects are pretty well fixed.
You also learn to drive thru to the other spot so you are facing out.
Backing out of a parking spot is crazy, no one has time to wait on you.
A big truck is comfortable and capable of a lot of things.
Either you get use to the fuel bill or you don't.
My wife's 2001 Z28 gets the best gas mileage out of all the vehicles in the drive way, 20/21 mpg.
My service vans get the worst, 10/12 mpg.

With that said, parking a Tacoma is pleasant.....
    2014 Tacoma V-6 and 2011 Silverado Z71...mileage the same.

ive had the bigger truck (diesel 2500hd & non-diesel 1500) and used it big time for construction, hauling max weight. point is, that it was a pain to drive on my own time, plus the mpg sucked. mpg alone is not worth it once you pull up to the pump..that's when you go "i miss my taco." lol

I'm getting about 2 miles per gallon better than my Tundra I had. 12.7 Versus 14.6. I have been running the 87 octane lately but if I run 92 I can get close to 17, this is all city driving too. Remote start doesn't help but it's nice not getting into a boilermaker.

Got rid of a Taco and bought a Titan, because I felt the need for for a full size truck. Now I drive a DBCB s/b. I love the size of my Taco. People always ask me why I don't drive a full size, simple I don't need it.

She said "let me ride your big truck and make it hurt".......
So I drove her around the block 3 times and slapped the shit out of her.

It's an old dick joke for those of you that don't get it.
Replace big truck with "12 inches"

Congratulations on getting married! I think if you switched to a DCLB V6 it would satisfy the want for a bigger truck without the hassles of a full size.

best info on how to drive and park a full size. I do most of this stuff any ways. i’m not lazy and don’t usually park very close to any store. the mall i park as far away as i can. I also usually back into or pull thru to park even with the taco.
 i guess i have a dirty mind because i got that right away before i even read the 2nd part.

My two cents worth. I had a 2010 GMC Denali 6.2 liter tow package. Inherited from my father. Boy it was quick, but I was filling it up every 4th day with premium. Never got better than 16 mpg on road trips. It was a truly comfortable riding truck. Had every bell and whistle on it. It was a show truck and I loved it except,,, all I ever haul is mulch or golf clubs. Could barely climb into the back with the tailgate down, too high. Couldn't set on the tailgate without jumping up on it. Couldn't reach anything toward the front of the bed. It has been to the shop a couple of times for a cracked dash and broken door handles that decided to pull loose. So before it started to really come unglued I traded it even stevens for the 2014 double cab Tacoma. The Denali was way more truck then I needed. I now enjoy better gas mileage, peace of mind in the dependability department, I can reach my golf clubs, set on the tailgate and put on my shoes. Life is good. Just consider your life style and you'll be happy with whatever you choose.
