Hey everyone, just got a 2005 prerunner access cab. Love the truck but want some upgrades. I was thinking of putting the bilstein 5100's up front and possibly an aal in the back to gain an inch. Would adding the leveling kit and the aal allow me to get 285/75r16 tires on without rubbing? If not, can I buy tires with a backspace allowing the tires not to rub? Basically I am doing research on wheel spacers and am finding only negative things. Plus I only want a few cosmetic mods to make it cool looking without spending too much and without causing issues to the truck. Any input or pictures of bigger tires on your close to stock tacoma (or stock) would be great! Thanks.

You will rub and will wanna set the billies at 1.75 and probably a 1.5 or 2" aal. You will probably need to remove the mud flaps if you have them and cut a bunch of plastic. I don't think you will rub your cab mount. Get some .75" spacers and you should be fine. Also, it depends on what wheels you are running and the backspacing on those. You are trying to run almost a 33" tire. If you wanna go that big you probably will need to set the billies at 2.5" and new UCA's or drop your tires a bit. Maybe something close to a 32" something closer to a 275 75.

Thanks! Yeah maybe a smaller tire would be ideal. I'm not trying to do any cutting or add blocks. Everything I modify I would
Do myself so nothing too crazy

Yeah I would drop your tire size and try and keep the Billies at 1.75" as that is where mine were set and its was a better ride than stock. Maybe some spacers to give it a wider stance.

Thanks again. Are spacers bad for the truck or wheels?

a 265/75/16 is a popular tire size, essentially a 32" tire. I am running a 3" OME and wheel the truck with no issues stuffing the tire. check out my photo gallery for the tire size. people have mixed thoughts on spacers but i don't run them on my truck now because of the aftermarket rims, i have run spacers on many of my vehicles for 20 years with no issues

I am running a 2.5 inch spacer with 255/75/17. The ride feels the same to me except hitting bumps at over 35-40 mpg will make the front sway for a quick second, but i do plan on running billies soon and doing away with the spacer
