    Probably the nickel plating protecting them. They use nickel plated valve cores in TPMS sensors because the nickel doesn't react like brass does to the aluminum stem. It's still recommended to replace the cores whenever you change tires, because the nickel plating is pretty thin and it can wear off of the threads in the core after one or two times being screwed in and out. That exposes the brass that the cores are made of, and then they'll corrode pretty quickly.

    Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
    Yep, I learned that he hard way too, had to use channel locks to get mine off! I switched to black plastic.
