Here is a picture of my Lund tubed nerf bars. Looks like tiny rust spots all over them from front to back. I have just been dealing with it but now I am wanting to do something about it. So, does anyone have any ideas or solutions. I have a chrome bull bar, wheels and bumper or I would just go black. I may have to go black anyways. Can I strip the chrome off of these to salvage them? Has anyone went from chrome to black and if so do you have any pictures. This is also just a thought but if I could get the chrome off, wonder what white would look like?

I would venture to say white would be a PITA to keep clean...as far as the spots they look like oxidation...

If you take them to a plating shop they can strip the chrome and powder coat them for you...

Did you try coke and aluminum foil? Supposedly that works pretty well on chrome...

Do you happen to live in a region that uses magnesium chloride on the roads as an ice-melting agent?

Here in Colorado, some brain-dead idiot thought that this would be a good idea, and as a result, our vehicles are systematically being disintegrated into crap. It begins by looking just like your picture.

The unfortunate truth is that Lund puts the bare minimum thickness of chrome on their bars. That's the world we live in, and we've done it to ourselves. Cheaper is better? Not.

    Life is good in China.

I like your idea of making them white. Pull them off spray them white to match the truck and see if you like it. If you do maybe have them powder coated white. You can always strip them later if you don't like it and have them re-chromed.
