Hey guys, I took my '09 to a car stereo shop to have an aftermarket radio put in. Later I pulled the radio out to try and run the ground wire to watch DVDs while the truck is running (for my passenger). I found that of the radio 4 bolt mounts where a metal nut is glued behind some cheap, weak plastic, two of those plastic mounts were broken and I only have 2 bolts holding my stereo in place.

In order to replace those do I have to replace the entire dash? It sure is a cheap and weak design.

    Thanks

Had a similar issue with my 2008, did you fix it?

Can you post some pictures of the issue or damage?

Unfortunately no, the nut that is behind the panel apparently has broken loose and spins freely. It is the lower left mount, steering wheel side, and I don't know how to get behind the panel. I suppose I could use a rotary tool and several cutting wheel to cut the bolt but would like to do it cleaner, no metal dust that is. Appreciate any ideas that don't involve a trip to the dealership. :)

Went ahead and cut the head off the bolt. Not real wild about this type of radio mount but if this is the worst then I'm still ahead of the game. Will just find the right place to mount so it fits and looks good, drill a mount hole in each of the metal brackets and bolt it in using self-tapping screws.

It would be much more helpful to post up pictures of said area in question.
