Ok guys so I bought my '05 Tacoma used and on my way home I noticed that dreaded takeoff shutter and this was even before the lift. It only happens around 20-30mph and when I'm easy on the gas. When I step on it a little it doesn't do it. I researched and researched and tried several different things. I replaced the rear springs(which were shot), shimmed the diff, and replaced the center support bearing, shimming the bearing varying up to 1.5 inches with washers with no success. I finally took the driveshaft to the shop yesterday to get it balanced. I drove the truck home in 4wd essentially turning the truck into a front wheel drive. So even with the rear driveshaft off the truck it still shuttered the same as before which tells me it's definitely not a rear driveshaft issue as so many have stated. I checked the bell housing bolts as well as the engine and transmission mounts. All seems tight. So now I'm sort of at a loss as to what may be the issue. What do you guys think? One buddy thought it might be the programming in the CPU for the shift pattern. Another bud thinks I might have a bad coil pack. I'm thinking it could also be my rear brakes catching since I have to really drive in reverse to get them to release after releasing the parking brake. Any ideas?

There's about 162,xxx miles. I have no clue about the previous records but I can tell you the previous owner did not take very good care if it. The brakes are the next thing I'm going to check and service. Trans fluid change is a good idea too. I might change out all the driveline fluids with redline. ^^excellent link. I'm going to see if I can determine if this is a torque converter issue. I should also mention it doesn't shutter right away, only after it's warmed up after a few minutes of driving.

I had a 2007 6 speed that had this exact same shutter. I changed the clutch, flywheel and it got better for maybe 2 months and came right back. I ended up getting rid of the truck for a 2013 TDI Golf. That car got totalled in a flood now I'm back to a 2010 Tacoma :D
