Wiper arm slipped out of hand and popped my windshield. Now I have a crack and it is still growing.

That has nothing to do with it. I've broken a glass with a antenna in a pinch while on a extrication before.

    Sorry about your windshield though.

OP, if you have full insurance coverage, call your company. They'll replace it, I've had 2 windshields replaced on 2 different trucks. Tell them something hit it. Maybe not specific details though lol

Every one of our fire fighters gets a glass breaker for his key ring . Amazing that something smaller than the tip of a pen can bust a window . These work very well for 8 bucks . Dont hand them out to kids though :D

Very common mistake , ALWAYS put a towel over the glass where the wipers sit when changing blades : )

Most definitely not the best video but you can see what it does.
If we run a extrication and time is of the essence I'll pull the antenna (read.... not take time to unscrew it) off the car if it has one, cover the patient, hold it about 3" from the end and pop the corner of the window.
It will shatter since it is tempered.

Note.... this does not work on windshields since they are layered glass with laminate sandwiched in between. Axe blade and a sawsall works for that extremely fast.

I've heard that a simple fork will fubar a windshield with a light toss.

I like that and the idea of giving them out. Would make a good gift for the people I work with at a glass plant come holiday time.

    lol... never thought of that.

the glass lites themselves are typically 1/16" - 1/8" thick and it's bent annealed so yea it breaks easily
