When listening to music through bluetooth or even from an iPod plugged into the AUX, I have to turn the volume up much higher on the head unit. If I'm listening to the radio, the volume is normal. Example, listening to the radio and volume level set at 20 compared to listening to iPod or bluetooth volume level set 20 it is much quieter. I have to set the volume in the 30s to have it sound like it is set at 20 (not sure if that makes sense). I was curious why this is, I have the volume set on the highest level on the iPod and on my phone when using bluetooth. If anyone knows why this is, please let me know and excuse me if this topic has been posted before; I could not find any info on this. Thanks. I have a 2013 Sport with the stock head unit.

Yep, noticed that myself. I'm pretty sure that it remembers where you set the volume depending on what input you use. In other words if you listed to the radio on a 20, then switch to Bluetooth and raise it to 30, the next time you switch back I think it remembers that it was at 30.

It is a pain though, if you turn up the volume on your Bluetooth phone, it not only turns up the broadcast but the ringer too.

And if your using your bluetooth and switch to the radio, make sure you remember to turn the volume down. If not, its going to be loud.

I had the same problem and no matter what how I configured the volume on both my phone and the stock head unit, it was never loud enough. I got a PHP Sound Shocker after reading about it on this forum. It's a small device that connects to the Aux cable.
It works perfectly by amplifying the sound while also reducing static.

I'll have to look into that. Was it expensive?

I have the same issue. I hate how shitty the sound quality is on the stock HU and the distortion if cranked up. Need a stereo upgrade soon. I'm going to look into the PHP sound shocker until then

After a easy Google search a basic less powerful one is 30$ and a quality one is 60$

Sorry I didn't give you more details initially, but I have the cheaper one that was about $30. Like I said it works great. I put the volume on my phone at about 75% and with the stereo around 20-30 it's plenty loud.

I use Spotify on my smartphone that connects through bluetooth and find that it's much louder than the radio stations. I have the regular stock head unit in my truck, non-touch screen. On bluetooth, I normally have the volume somewhere between 20-30 and up to 40 with the windows down on the hwy. On the smartphone, the bluetooth and system volume is cranked to the max.

The volume on Spotify always worked good for me too. The problem was with other music apps (Sirius XM) and podcasts. With the volume maxed out on both it wasn't loud enough to even hear it while on the highway.

Had the same issue with my '15 Entune. I turned off the "sound check" option on my phone (iPhone 6) under Settings, Music and the volume immediately went to normal. Hope this helps.
    Cheers
