How often do you use the electronic locking diff? Where do you use it?

I'm torn between a 2WD Sport package (hate the hood) & a 2 WD Offroad package (like the locker & skid plates).

I don't plan on much off road driving, but like the idea of having the electric locker available for the occasional dirt road or gravel. I understand I can add an ARB air locker; I'm not sure what an installed price would be for the sportw/lsd version.

    thanks,

Ken (getting ready to order a V6...)

i live in socal and don't really need the 4x4 so i opted for the 2wd prerunner w/locker. i have never been stuck but dont wheel that often. had tons of fun in ocotillo wells and got through the sand just fine. accidentally hit my diff lock button pulling into my driveway(meant to turn off the fogs) nice thick nitto marks in my driveway :D overall i use my locker once a month or so. nice option if you have a 4x2
no regrets in buying my trd OR prerunner.

I use it for play I have not yet found my self in a real world situation where I needed it. But I do go to the local mud hole every once and a while and have go with it.

    Not yet,
Haven't had to use mine yet but I've been in some situations with 2x4's without it and would not want anothe 2x4 without one.

Just buy a magnetic grey sport and we can trade hoods. I have a 09 with only 800 miles:D

I used it whenever I'm in soft sand/mud/or on a hill climb or on any terrain where I can anticipate a significant decease in traction.

If you're a Prerunner, hit the locker BEFORE you venture into any terrain where you will need it. Otherwise it may be too late.

Well, being that I am in GA also and would like a sport hood. If you ever wanted to trade... you got a taker. I have a silver streak tacoma. Just a thought for down the road. Personally I like the sport edition because the door handles, bumper, mirrors, and grill are color matched.

The '09s come stock with an electronic limited slip differential based on the traction control system. I don't offroad my truck but do use some slippery or sandy boat ramps. The LSD works well but it is meant to get you out of a situation, not be run continually.
