*Update 10/1 Dealer diagnosed as either ujoints or driveshaft splines. IOW they have no idea

    Hey all,
Im a new member here at Tacoworld and just want to say the technical information on this board is fantastic and thanks!

To business... So I have a 2007 access cab Tacoma TRD-offroad with a 6-speed manual and completely stock. When Accelerating from a stop, there are 2 obvious clicks that occur each time when starting. Both clicks do not sound the same and are definitely coming from the front of the truck. I think each click is coming from one side, meaning there is a click from the right front and a click from the left front (hence the difference in sound). This occurs when starting in both first and second gear and is more obvious when accelerating harder. It seems to go away during slow acceleration. Im not sure if I am noticing this more because i drive the truck more or if it is getting louder.

I believe i have narrowed the possibilities to a bilateral suspension component in the front or the brakes since this seems to be caused either 1) after braking, or 2) after oscillations in the front suspension during initial acceleration.

After doing some searches on this sight it seems there are reports of something similar occurring from the brake pads or actuators realigning themselves?

Any input or experiences with this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and input!

I have a click and so did my friends 06 tundra. His was from the carrier bearing. Mine is from the leaf pack according to toyota tech. I have heard of people hearing clicks on the front of the truck caused by the aluminum bumper torquing. Not sure what other front end clicks are known.

Although I haven't visually checked the mounts, I ruled them out because when holding the brake and giving gas (in first gear) there was no clicking. I would think if it was a mount I would be able to replicate this clicking during this test.

so like a previous poster said, toyota said it was the leaf springs. Specifically, that they needed lubrication. The problem is better now, but no completely gone. Hopefully it will go away when i put some dakars on next month.

Noises are hard to track. My click on takeoff sounded like it was coming from the front. I turned out to be a rear u-joint.

Did you have two separate and distinct clicks only noticeable at take off?

Two, but close together. Ujoints are easy to check. Separate the flanges, and check their movement. Any slop, or hard spots=replace.
