    It'd be great if one of you super cold guys would do some measurements with a meat thermometer.

    I have been wondering the same thing about my 14. Seems like I have to run the fan ar 3/4 speed on must hot days to stay cool. I will check the Temps tomorrow.

    I agree with most in here that the AC System is adequate on the Tacoma IF it is properly charged with 134a. Mine is too cold if I run it at max cool, I usually run it at the halfway position ( approx 9:00 oclock position ).

    You need to keep in mind that both under charging or over charging will cause the system to not cool properly.

    '14 taco and on super hot days (90°F+) I just have to turn on the recirculate to improve cooling rates. My windows aren't tinted and the truck is dark grey which doesn't help.

    The cooling rate is acceptable. Not nearly as fast as my previous Audi but a bit faster and colder than my old Chevy car.

    I have found that vehicles with a fan on the FRONT of the radiator(commonly found on vehicles with factory tow packages) will cool much better than a standard AC set up. My wife's Pilot has this fan and the AC works VERY well. My 2008 Tacoma, however, pales in comparison to the Pilot in terms of cooling. It sucks....

    Cooking Thermometer is a great Idea; When I get a chance I'll post my results. One problem, I can see how a probe would give an ok temp but not be enough volume of cold air for a car interior.
    However my 12 Prerunner gets very cold!! Usually have to leave it on low fan and sometimes use upper/lower vents setting to lessen the chill.

    My experience is that it's NOT uncommon for vehicles to be delivered with a low or improper 134a charge; my 02 Taco and 06 Corolla are proof and it was a pain to get the dealer to recognize it. (To the level of a 'heated':eek: argument with the Tech). In all cases I got the fix (proper charge) under the 3/36 but it was a challenge (2 different dealers too)

    Another thing: When systems are new they'll be very efficient even with low charge; that changes in the first 20k miles with wear. Then a low charge will be more noticable.

    A lot of stuff.
    This thread caught my attention as well. My new 2014 DC, AC doesn't seem to be "very cold". I received my notice from the Dealership to bring the vehicle in for the FREE 40 point inspection. My thoughts are, I only want the AC working like it should, to freeze my Cojones off. I also notice no difference with the knob setting from full AC to Max AC. I'll report back.

    I'm disappointed in my 14 DC air as well. My 2006 Scion xA, with a 1.5 liter engine turns into a meat locker after 5 minutes. Not so much with the Taco. I can live with it though.

    If your system is taking too long to cool down, you're either under charged or over charged.

    One of the reasons older vehicles got colder was the refrigerant- R12. You could hang meat inside a vehicle with R12. 134a is more environment "friendly" but it does appear to take longer to cool, especially when the charge is incorrect.

    I agree with those who have stated the AC is not as cold as others. I had a 95 Nissan truck that would create icicles on your nose and my Infiniti was the same way... freezing.

    It gets pretty damn hot where I live and it would be nice if it was colder. Not sure if it is designed poorly or if my brand new truck needs more refrigerant...

    I went thru this with my Tacoma. I added dark tinted windows, still hot. I then added
    WheatherTech window vents, that helped. Now I park in the shade, which made the biggest difference. All of them combined gets me 83 now before any changes I was hitting 150.
    My truck would never cool down enough when driving it. It's just to hot here, plus I think toyota skipped out on any insulation.

    This morning driving in to work - it's Phoenix, so it was 87 degrees at 6am - my thermo got down to 42 degrees - that felt real nice.

    I have a carport at work, after work it was 107 in the shade. It got down to 48 in about 6 minutes but never got cooler than 46 in a 20 mile highway ride cruise control set at 70.

    My previous cars were always ice cold so I never tried the meat probe but after having 42 this morning I would guess they ran between 40 and 42 degrees. Funny how just a few degrees makes a significant difference.

    Seatbelt Buzzer turned off, Bed Mat, Illuminated 4X4 switch, Intermittent Wipers, Fumoto drain valve, LCE header, fog lights
    I thought that my AC wasn't putting out cold enough air so I bought a thermometer from Harbor Freight and it turns out it puts out 47 degree air. It convinced me nothing was wrong.

    Now I just try to park my Indigo Ink Pearl Tacoma in the shade.

    After doing some googling ala meat thermometer... Good would be 40-42. Some people that say theirs is ice cold measured all the way down into the upper 20's to low 30's.

    I know if I tell my dealer I'm measuring 46 he'll say that is within a tolerance. I'll try anyway when I'm in for my first service.

    46 degrees is fairly good. You ain't getting no 20 - 30 degrees out of it no way no how. Un-possible regardless of what others have said.

    I have had a themometer in my vent for the past year, and I've never seen it dip below 40 degrees with the AC on full blast, UNLESS, the outside ambient air was cooler than 70 degrees.

    With my 09 DCSB, it's the AC is blowing cold air consistently at 40 degrees with me living in sunny SoCal in the IE.

    With those who feel as if their AC isn't cooling down or blowing cold air, generally, it's a combination of a dark car with a lot of heat in the cab. Open your windows up once you start driving with the AC on full. Close up the windows once all the hot air is out of the cab. Even though it's 105 outside, that is still cooler that the 140 degree hot air that's in the cab from being turned into an oven by baking in a parking lot all day.
