Ok. Here's my dilemma. I'm trying to buy this tire, I've been to every tire store in fresno,CA and they all tell me about plies. My truck is a 2008 tacoma dcsb 4x4 and I hardly ever carry things in my bed. They tell me that more plies means you can carry more weight but since I don't carry any weight in mine I don't know what to buy. Any help? Anyone went thru the same thing? What did you buy?

Go with 6 ply, load range C. That's all you really need with these light trucks. Some go with the 10 ply, load range E, but it's not needed. Some justify it saying the off-road a lot, but sounds like you just need a nice a/t tire for street use. The more ply, the more weight, and the bigger hit on gas mileage you'll have. Mentioning gas mileage on a truck forum seems to be grounds for man card removal, but whatever, $$$ is $$$.

I have the e rated and still get 17 mpg doing 70mph, that with skid, sliders, camper shell, 3 in lift and my fat ass 215 lbs lol and with 2 other co-workers. daily commute from merced to modesto. yes e rated is not needed as stated but I got these brand new for a very good price.

I have 285/70/17 on load range D. I think that's perfect for the tacomas. I usually air down to 10-15psi when I'm out wheeling

What size are you looking for? I have 265/70/17 C rated and am going to sell mine with about 10k miles on them.

x2. A p-rated A/T tire will still support anything the Tacoma is rated to carry. Some manufacturers offer a SL rating or Standard Load, that would be a good option also in my opinion.
