Most aggressive looking tire but lightest in weight 265/70/17

    I've been researching tires and both Amazon and Walmart list the shipping weight as either 38.6 or 38.5lbs a tire.

    Different strokes for different folks. You wheel and that's your priority hence the huge tires with strong sidewalls. Some people have daily drivers they want a decent looking tire that can also get them through show and dirt roads. Weight does make a huge difference when it's rotational mass of the wheel and tire.

    Which only matters during acceleration and stopping. If you are accelerating at 100% throttle and need more, there are much better ways to accomplish that than lighter tires. As far as stopping goes, stock brakes with decent pads will lock up my 37's at highway speeds no problem.

    I fail to see your point. The OP asked a very specific question and got answers. What does your truck with 37" wheels have to do with what he is looking for? Size and weight do matter, both in the city and highway.

    My argument is size and weight don't functionally matter at all for the average TW'er, and OP should get whatever tires he likes leaving weight out of the equation. My apologies if this has offended your delicate sensibilities fine sir. ;)

    Actually it does matter to some, hence this thread as well as tons of others. Facts are facts, I lost 2mpg switching to bigger rims and tires. I drive upwards of 20k a year so yes it matters. If the Hankook get me back 1 of those mpg then I just save a good chunk of change and still have a tire that looks good and performs well for what I ask of it. My apologies if my opinion doesn't make sense to you. Enjoy your weekend

    exactly for those of us concerned about mpg there is a reason. Like stated the P265/75R16 Dynapro ATM RF10's are 39.019lbs.... thats nice!!!! Comapred to the same size duratracs which are 45lbs... that is alot of rotational mass even if staying at a constant speed it takes more to move em which can mean 1-2mpg loss.

    I am actually very glad op made me look up the weight of the dynapro ATM's as thats now my new top runner. I can go bigger in size from stock and only go up 1LB per tire.... whereas even a Goodyear All-terrain adventure is 4lbs above stock weight @ 265/75R16

    I average 14.7MPG driving like a tard everywhere. I don't see that it's a whole lot worse than most everyone else running mud tires. I think it's more about rolling resistance due to the tread pattern, but what do I know. I'm not an engineer, I've never driven a train.

    have these too-was worried about getting stuck in the snow-they performed WELL.
    Nice on the road too.
    Had the BFG on my older truck-they were GREAT OFFROAD.
    But the were NOISY on the road.

    I agree with you that on average this doesnt matter much.

    Lets assume less rotating mass means increased accel and decreased stopping time, wouldnt it also mean that if this tire was free spinning it would come to a stop faster than a tire with more rotating mass?

    When your truck is at speed the 37s will have more perpetual motion than a lighter tire, does anyone factor that in?

    Neither of our arguments are addressing all the factors involved when maximizing mpg so we dont really know whats better. I would rather have big meats myself.

    I went from BFG AT 285/75/16 Load range E (56lbs) to Duratrac 265/75/16 C (45lbs) and did not have any noticeable fuel mileage change.... Much to my disappointment.

    This man speaks volumes of truth. I believe my 16's setup is actually LIGHTER then stock was with stock weighing 80lbs per uninflated rim and tire and my setup weighing either 75 or 79lbs rim and tire inflated. (I can't remember which one it was exactly now)

    I have pictures but i can never seem to post them on here...i'll try again.

    I installed Bilsteins all around and levelled the front at 1.75"...the 265/70/17 fills the tire well nicely and the tires look awesome compared to the stock Duellers i took off...

    Im really liking the Grabbers so far, i dont offroad at all so i wanted something with an aggressive look that would ride smooth on the 100km/hr + highways i drive on everyday. Theres a bit of a hum at highway speed but its not bad...

    A lot of noise that the tires would had otherwise created for me has been removed thanks to the EGR in channel window guards. They have been awesome, the tires are noisy yes, but not very noticeable nor bothersome to me enough to the point where I hate them and I drive this thing daily. I knew they would be noiser due to the more aggressive tread pattern. Fuel mileage has not been a major change for me. I drive spirited, I know I do. Though mine is a highway driver mostly. You will mostly see a change in fuel mileage drops in the city where you have a lot of stopping and going. The initial movement of the additional weight you have added will only be a factor then and when stopping due to the additional rotational mass and momentum. Given that I have some armor. I have surprisingly not seen much of a noticeable drop, if at all. Hope this input helps, for those who are concerned.
