I would guess duratracs or wrangler authorities, both are borderline mts (if u squint a little) and from what i understand goodyear left a lot to be desired in the sidewall department to save weight.

Hankook dynapro Atm is 38.6lbs in that size. My BFG TA KO's are 45lbs each!

Totally agree here, love my BFG AT's but they will cost you 1-2mpg and weigh a ton.

I know that the shop I use for tires has all the specs for every tire, including weight. If you go into a tire shop they can tell you definitively which tires fit your search.

Good call... forgot about the "specs" section of tire rack. They list the weights of the tires most of the time, as well.

Just get the druatracs, they're a good balance of looks, weight and price. They look a very aggressive to the average Mall Lot Lizard.

Whatever you get, get a P-metric AT tire. If you don't need the LT tire, no reason to get it. That will save you a lot of rotational mass.

I just installed the General Grabber AT2s in 265/70/17 SL and they look and run great. Maybe not the MOST aggressive looking tire but the weight and ride on them are great so far and the price came in at $375 cheaper than the BFG AT KO

Duratracs have greater tread depth than General Grabber AT2, BFG AT, Hankook ATM, etc., but unfortunately don't come in P-metric. At 44 lb the load range C tire is still reasonable weight. This is going to be my winter tire when my current Firestones wear down.

@1tacoplease: By restricting yourself to 265/70-17 instead of 265/75-16, you will never reach optimal weight, since the 17" wheel will be heavier than an equivalent 16" wheel. ;)

A lot of the tires mentioned are a bit heavier than your current set up. I just purchased some 265/75/16 Cooper ATP's that were only 40 lbs compared to my 265/70/16 BFG rugged trails at 38 lbs. Going up a size and adding a much better tire for only 2 lbs a tire is a win in my book.

For little off roading and you want some good looking AND very smooth/quiet/long tread life, check out the Toyo Open Country H/T tires in that size.

Put the white letters out too for the old school sport look.

You got a side view and front pics? I'm curious because that's what I was thinking of getting. Also, any lift on your truck?

Don't concern yourself with tire weight on a 4500 lb truck. My tires and wheels weigh 170 pounds each. It would be hard to find a heavier wheel and tire combo out there and it still gets decent mileage and drives fine. It does eat parts, but that's mostly because of my maniacal driving style and terrain. On a 2000 lb race car, tire weight is important. For me, I would rather have tough sidewalls than a 10th of a second faster quarter mile time in the Tacoma. Nitto's in your favorite flavor are a good choice for a mall crawler tire, and they perform well if you take a wrong turn and end up in the dirt.
