If this is truly an issue, why did you buy the truck without doing a thorough inspection to ensure it met your standards?

They might have, usually the sales man tells you to look over the car or truck to make sure everything you want or don't want is there. So they can make changes before you sign the 10 thousands signatures. Don't think will have anything to do with warranty

Yes my OCD has noticed this from day 1 on my 2009 Sport. The plastic flares are OK, but the white grill has always been over so slightly off. No matter how much polishing I've done, it's always been slightly duller compared to the bright white everywhere else.

It's not much, and not enough that anyone else notices, but I agree - it's there. Wasn't worth me fighting Toyota though.

Yes exactly like mine! My fender flares seem to match too! But the white on the GRILL SHELL is not as bright as the hood or rest of the truck. It's like one shade off. Did u ever ask Toyota about it?

I also ordered a color matched one for my Off Road and it is probably a 95% match. I just figured it is the difference between plastic and metal, no worries. Life is way too short to sweat something like this.

Yours is probably perfect and different angles are messing with you. Enjoy your truck....

Ok I'm glad I'm not the only one who's truck is like this too! The guy in the other thread that I posted the link had magnetic grey and even his was slightly off and a shade duller...it had to be that the grill shell is a different material and not painted with the trucks. Just wanted to make sure mine wasn't the only one with this issue!

i woulda thought it was the difference in plastic and metal, but i also heard that the super whites were not clear coated, and the color matched grills were, so that would make the color matched grill a shade yellower

Is your super white grill shell slightly a shade duller too?

Update: So I spoke with a salesman at the Toyota dealership and he seems to think that it's bc the GRILL shell is a different material (plastic) and has a different base coat than the truck itself. Which would make sense. Like I said, I just wanted to make sure mine wasn't the only one like this. I'll try to post a pic of mine later tonight when I get home from work.

I can't emphasize how well mine matches. Any variance you see is because of the angle the picture was taken and it was taken with a cell phone. In person it matches perfectly.

Well the dealership guy said he is certain that it's bc the grill shell is a diffeent material and its not as glossy and is plastic rather than metal which gives the color a different look. Plus he said the color matched grills are assembled elsewhere and are not manufactured with the assembly line truck and that he has seen it on all tacomas 2005 and older.

What if your grill shell is the right color and the rest of the truck is the wrong color?

Someone might have scratched it on the lot so they repainted the grill.

Well is not just the grill shell, it is also the little 5-6" pieces that extend from the shell out below each headlight. Plus, others have stated there's is slight off/duller too, so its not just mine.

Some colors between painted plastic and painted metal appear to be off. Least on Hondas it was that way when I was in QC there

Correct! But the weird thing is that it appears to me that the BUMPER is also the same plastic material (I may be wrong...whos knows lol!) as the grill but it matches the white color of the truck rather than the grill shell.

Direct sunlight. No difference in color.

Quite honestly I'd be more concerned over scratches and dings than rather the color was "slightly" off on my grill.
