Just debadged my truck, now want to get rid of the chrome emblem. Cant seem to find one that is anodized black metal so I guess it's either paint or plasti dip myself. What prep do all you guys do? Rough up the chrome at all? Paint it or dip it? I've never messed with an emblem before. I do NOT want it to look like it is chipping apart all the time everytime I go through a carwash or hit monster bugs, etc....Advice? Thanks guys!

Plastidipped mine years ago, no issues. Still holding up great.

I painted mine. Scuffed it with sandpaper and used Duplicolor plastic primer first, followed by several light coats of Duplicolor trim paint. Looks like the rest of the grill.

That being said, I'm going to PlastiDip my other emblems this weekend and see how they look.
