I have a 2012 Tacoma that I took to the dealer today for service and a recall . and ask about turning the daytimes off . so here's the deal. So after the service writer looked into this since the truck was made in Canada , no software to turn them off, but if the truck is a U S model , daytimes come turned off. and this is mandatory in Canada for new trucks to have daytime running lights , SO what the _ _ _ _ I'm not in CANADA:sorry: SO how do I do this without cutting wire in the fuse block ? THANKS

They make tacomas in Canada now? Last I recall it's still made in Texas and Baja Cali :notsure:

Why do you want it off?

Tacomas for US and Canada are made in Texas.

Did you buy the Taco used in the US?
Dealer must have brought in a Canadian tacoma to satisfy demand, or did a trade-in.

Probably could change out the steering wheel stalk switch for the lights from Canada to US model. I wouldn't be surprised if the wiring is all there.

    Relay and a shorting plug.
Disconnect your harness and relay, new relay plugs directly into the back of the fuse box and the shorting plug goes in below it.

But I don't know if the shorting plug is available for the '12+

Might be able to get away with replacing the dimmer stalk... probably a $100 part. The US trucks have a 3rd position to kill the DRL.

    He's got a '12.
The DRL-off option did not appear on the stalk in the US until '13 or '14

His dealer is blowing smoke up his ass, but the end result is the same... he can't shut the DRL off without a mod.

Thats funny i was wondering about this the other day. Mine has the amber day time marker lights but every other Tacoma i pass on the road dosent have them. Is this something that kind of rare or year specific. Mine is a 2012 as well. I dont care if mine can be turned off or not just curious.:D

Have you tried filling the tank up with maple syrup? Maybe the DRLs are just a way for your taco to display syrup withdrawals....
