I know these v6 are loud engines but mine seems to have a new sound that drives me nuts. I can hear it on start up but also when I get on it hard acceleration. Almost a loud tapping/hissing but will go away at speed.

Been running 87 fuel and dealer switched me to synthetic oil recently. Just in case that is needed

My 2006 had a ticking noise on acceleration, there was a recall for cracked exhaust manifolds. I was sure that wasn't the problem.... they replaced the manifolds and I never had a problem again. It was almost like a rattle when you hit the gas at low speeds or idle.

Yes. Like a rattle but goes away once at speed

what year is your truck? I would suggest looking up the TSB list for cracked exhaust manifold. Its a weird noise , I was convinced that it was valve train related when I had it.
