Sorry in advance if this has already been discussed, but I could find what I really was looking for. I have a '14 TRD Off-Road, six-speed, 4.0. I love absolutely everything about the truck, I just was wondering if there was anything that I could to to give it a little deeper growl, more throaty sound? I don't have a lot of time so something I could finish in a day or so would be great!

I had a custom y-pipe that is 2.25" to a 2.5" into a borla and dumped right after the rear axle. Sounds really good!

I just replaced the factory muffler with a SS Magnaflow. Sounds awesome, I couldn't be happier. Real throaty, no ricy sound at all.

Aero Turbine 2525XL (resonated version). Very streetable, has a nice growl to it. Have had it on my truck for nearly two years now and I still love it.

Don't waste your money on intakes. You will gain nothing on doing a muffler or catback system to it either, it's all for sound alone. Sorry to break it to you, but unless you want to drop mega $$'s, nothing will really get you any additional power out of these.

I'd have to disagree with that. Adding my intake has been the number one improvement as far as performance goes. It made my trucks performance noticeably better.

Possible placebo. I used to feel that adding intakes were the best thing to do for a "performance mod," mainly because of the extra sound it produced was the reason why I felt that way. I quickly found out otherwise. Or your filtering system was just that dirty in the first place possibly?

    Things I need to tow.
I have an MBRP dual system (mbrpautomitive.com) which is a very good quality, engineered system with great sound. I got mine from an ebay vendor with free shipping for what some here say they paid for a TRD. I enjoy both the sound and the attention it gets from other Tacoma owners. (Yes, knowledgeable Tacoma owners know when they see something out of the ordinary.) I also stacked two resonators in the head pipe in front of it and the sound deep and muffled, with no drone or rice.

There are a few YouTube clips of Tacomas with this system if you search, here's one both with and without a resonator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXIHYkggrJc

    Here's another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltfqh1-Cv60

    agreed.

the ass-dyno loves to turn 'sound' into 'power'

you may see a difference in throttle response, a quicker pick-up off the line,
but no actual power change (proven on countless dynos, simple add-ons for noise don't do a thing)

what you can do is bolt on a toyota blower, 6 new injectors, new ecu map, and related bits for true power gainz

I honestly don't want anymore performance, per say. Honestly just for the sound!

No it'll just make the response more better.

I think the AFE intake is supposed to help little better than the TRD one.
