Horrible Screeching/Grinding Noise

Took it for a drive around the block, it sounds horrific. It seems to be coming from the rear driver side. The sound increases as you slow down or brake. Taking it in first thing tomorrow.

 

Then that would indicate it's more likely an issue you won't necessarily be able to check without taking the brake drum off....


Also, sub'd to hear the outcome; I have a 2014 too and am curious what it is.

 

I am with Stevens104X4. I think it is a stone lodged against the brake rotor. I had that happen to a Tundra I once owned. Made a terrible noise until the stone dislodged.

 

It is a lodged stone. I agree with Shiloh1944. Without pulling off that drum there is nothing you can actually do about it.

 

I'm taking my truck in bright an early tomorrow. I am going to be late for work but I can't get to work without a vehicle. This week has been a string of bad luck for me.

 

If it is in the rear, there isn't any way for a stone to get in...

 

Stone between the rotor and the rotor shield fairly common and damn noisy.

 

And for those interested, here is the $80 update. Looks like a 2x4 was the culprit.

RE tube the bastard and put some splines on it .

 

I'll bite....how the hell did the heat shield get bent?!?

 

2x4 hopped up off the road and nailed it.

As an aside...paint the driveshaft...primer then paint...clean metal will rust like hell.

 

This will be something to get done this weekend.
