Edmund's " Low seating position" con noticeable?

Incredibly grateful for this site- been researching the Tacoma to death and have decided to pull the trigger on a 2015. (OCONUS duty takes me away til Oct, so they'll be in by then) I have one question- as my first post- Edmunds site lists a "con" for the Tacoma as having a "low seating position". I think you often don't feel things on a test drive as you normally would on a road trip, so I'm wondering about this critique. Has anyone else noticed this as an issue? (I'm 6' and 34" inseam, so some of that height is leg......and I can't stand how low my butt is in my wife's Highlander!)
p.s. Going to go with the DoubleCab TRD long bed. Any 'must have' accessories that I should think of? (tonneau cover, cold air intake?, 3M hood, etc.) Any thoughts on this TRD Pro? (I'm off-road a few times a year on hunting trips, but otherwise it's a commuter rig.)

Arb front bumper, warn winch, All Pro rear bumper, OME up front, OME and All Pro Standard in Back, ARB locker, 34 x 10.5 KO2's, 17" Level 8 Trackers, and fancy single piece driveshaft.
I'm also 6' tall, but I don't really think the seating position is all that low for people our height. The seats don't adjust for height, so some shorter people find the seats too low. Aside from never feeling uncomfortable in it, there are two other things I've noticed that might be points of comparison for you. One is this truck is the most comfortable vehicle I ever had for resting my left arm on the door when the window is down. Try that on a test drive, and you'll see what I mean. The other is that the rear view mirror is too low, and gets in my line of sight too often. So that indicates that I'm not sitting too low. Someone on TW sells a "mirror riser" product that I haven't gotten around to getting.

As far as options go, the towing package is a must have because it also provides a tranny cooler.

this supposed 'con' is something completely made up just so they can put a 'con' in there

think about it....it is totally subjective. that is a BS con. what is high or medium for one person would be low or bogus for the next.

I'd say it's not made up, but it's not an issue - when you compare it to other trucks, the seating position is very much like a car, the seat is low to the floor of the truck... Having owned LOTS of trucks, this one doesn't have a seating position like most.

I'm not saying thats bad necessarily, but if you are expecting to sit up high off the floor like an F250 it doesn't.

Seating position is not too low for me either, but I'm 5' 10" with a 29" inseam (Long torso). I did the mirror relocation mod and think it may be my favorite mod for daily use purposes.

And yes, get the Tow Package. Transmission cooler and updated alternator.

I've had my 14 TRD Sport Dbl Cab long bed for 2 months now and if I could change anything it would be to have a power bucket seat and a V8 engine.

I am also 6' and had a 2008 Tacoma and I found that the type of seats it had caused my legs to fall asleep on long trips. My 2012 Tacoma has a completely different style of seat and feels better. I have not had any issues with the 2012 seats. I hope this helps.

I'd say the "con" is that there is no seat height adjustment. At your height I doubt you will find the seat too low. I'm only 5'8" and I do find it low although not enough to be an issue.

Coming from a Chevrolet there is a drastic difference in how low you sit. The seat is much closer to the floorboard. That being said, it took a little time to get used to my knees being so high up but I never considered it a "con" and have never found it to be uncomfortable, just different.

This is definitely a con to the tacos. I love my taco, dont get me wrong, but the fact that you cant get a power seat in them is totally ridiculous. These things are over 30K new!

I was very dissapointed in the seating in my 05 TRD (TRD's supposedly have better seats in them, FYI). Not sure what's different about them, maybe someone else can chime in there.

In most trucks, it is like you're sitting in a normal chair- but in my taco it is like someone cut the legs of the chair in half, and now im sitting very close to the ground. much less leg support, causing you to move the seat back, but then the steering wheel is too far away!

I actually put a 1" spacer and longer bolts into the front 2 seat mounts which gives me more support on the backs of my knees. Way more comfortable. Someone should make an aftermarket seat that has adjustable height. I'd pay good money for it....

According to this thread, the seat height of the newer Tacomas may be higher.

The seats are definitely low for a truck, but I like them better that way.

In my other vehicles with height adjustable seats, I've pretty much always kept them at or close to the lowest setting anyway.

5'8 200lb so can't help you as the seats are comfortable for me. But my pops, who is 6'2'' says the seats are noticeably lower and not as comfortable as his Pilot, especially on his knees.

I'm 6' with a 33" in seam. Been driving my '11 Taco for 3 years and have done several long trips. Just drove 10 hours one-way last week (mostly cruise control) with 1 restroom/gas stop to break things up, no problems at all with comfort.

Being a new Tacoma owner and coming from a Tundra, the seat height in relation to the steering wheel height is about the same. The seat may be lower to the floor, but everything is smaller, including the windshield width. I'm 6"1" and have no complaints. The seat height is relative to the size of the truck and you can't compare it to any 1500 ton truck. The rear view mirror mod sounds like a good idea to me.

I've had my 2012 base for over two years. I'm 6' 5" and about 290 lbs and I have no issue with the seat being too low. (I even clear the ceiling !).

I'll look into the mirror MOD. Thanks Guys and Welcome OP.

^^^^ this. Personally, I feel like the seating position is a little lower than a lot of cars. Almost feels like you're sitting on the floor. It's all a matter of the particular person. It bothers me on long road trips quite a bit. No biggie on shorter ones. I'm 6'4, 200 lbs.

I'll say this, it bothers me, but I'm on my second tacoma. Though I'd like to go to a tundra or f250, I haven't. I feel that if I did, I'd immediately regret it. The tacoma is an awesome machine.

Consumer Reports also complains about the low seat height. I wonder, though, whether either Edmunds or Consumer Reports have tested a Tacoma in the last several years. A lot of these reviews say the same thing year after year.

At 5' 7.5", I do not quite reach the ground when I exit my 2014 Tacoma. Even with the steering wheel at maximum height, I still bump it with my leg on the way in. A higher seat would make both of these issues worse.

I find the Tacoma comfortable to drive, at least for trips up to 1.5 hours, which is as far as I have had to go so far.
