I see... still doesn't seem practical for a truck though. But who knows

electrical power is solid torque , seems like that could be useful for a truck

Ya but a truck isn't just on the pavement all the time. If I saw them use this system in a trophy truck then I would be impressed or in a Baja truck or something.

    Why?
If it didn't have all the smog BS on it a Diesel has the potential to be extremely efficient.

If a diesel or hybrid option is offered, it wouldn't be the only option -just like the Camry has multiple powertrain options, including a hybrid. I don't get what all the hand wringing is about.

Oshkosh Diesel/Hybrid Truck for Baja 1000 is very cool! A lot of body roll! Top heavy? Perhaps due to the 20" of suspension travel? Power train is top drawer!

Yeah, one of the "thread of the week" things.

Honestly, there needs to be a sticky in each of the sub forums directing all conversations to ONE diesel/hybrid consolidated thread, where eveyone that wants one can go and mentally mastrubate together.

And then the mods can aggressively go through and nuke each new thread.

I have a X5 Diesel. Love it... I would love to be able to buy a Tacoma 4x4 TRD Double Cab with a Diesel engine... the economy in mileage alone would be great as well as the additional torque...

Electric on a Tacoma? nah! Unless they do a hybrid with a diesel engine and electric motors... but not sure how that would work for off-roading

Rear leaf suspension. Home done tailgate re-inforcement.
I had an 84 Diesel Corolla and at 65K the first stage of the injector pump quit. New pump would have been $1600 at the time so I put in an electric fuel pump to circulate the fuel and feed the second stage of the injector pump.

Got 180K before selling it. Later found that this was a common problem with that injector pump and the death of most other 84 diesels.
