I'm a newbie here but through extensive research over a few months I learned very quickly what would and what would not work for me and what I was looking for in aftermarket parts to add some room to put larger tires on my Toyota and gain that aggressive look. I just want to point out some topics that I researched on here and want to tell the FACTS about certain modifications to a 2nd generation Toyota that I found out first hand.

3" Level Kit- I put a 3" level kit on my 2011 double cab. I do not offroad so it did not make sense to put 1,000+ in suspension modifications. Many people will argue on here that its cheap and not the right way to add lift to your vehicle but I disagree. Truth is, it really doesn't matter what people think, most of the people on here do not get their trucks muddy anyways so why spend unneeded money for the same look and result right?. I purchased my leveling kit from Supreme Suspensions and I highly recommend their products. I added a 2" rear block and even put the wedges under the blocks to gain back the stock angle with the drive shaft. I also added in a front differential drop and sway bar spacer. This was all included in the kit. I do however recommend getting aftermarket rear shocks to compensate for the lost travel. Even on speed bumps u can feel the rear shocks tap out.

Alignment- Many people on here said that you could not properly align and Toyota if you lift it 3" without getting upper control arms. This is false!!!! I took mine to the shop and my toe, caster, and camber were all dialed in GREEN, good to go. Im so glad that I took it to the shop before I spent 375 on Light racing UCA's.

Rubbing- Anyone who says their 285/70/17 wheels dont rub on the front and back of the front wheel wells are Full Of Sh*t. There is minor rubbing and cutting is required! BUT, I will say, I had my plastic cut and rub free after 15 minutes of work. Its hideable and to anyone looking at your truck they will never ever notice.

Wheels- I was back and forth on choosing proper back spacing and off sets and maybe I lucked out on my choice bc there was very little information I could find on 17x9 5" back spacing 0 offset wheels. THEY DONT rub the upper control arms!! I purchased Mickey Thompson Sidebiters II and they look sick as F**K.

Tires- I chose Cooper ST MAXX 285/70/17 tires. They are badass and I recommend them to everyone, They wear better than STT's and still provide a very aggressive offroad look.

I hope some of this information helps anyone looking for answers. Feel free to ask any questions.

You can still get an okay alignment with stock UCA's, but aftermarket will get you a more perfect aligment than you're gonna get with stock. PLUS the adjustables make it so much easier for the alignment tech. Better alignment = better tire wear, less wear and tear on other components - worth it in the long run, IMO.

Nice truck and I'm proud of you, too.

As mentioned above, not all trucks will react the same to certain mods.

Your truck looks like mine, the tire shop will say the alignment is in the green, but its not that perfect, if you look from the front you can see the tires have a bad camber and you will wear the outer edge of your front tires faster.

Oh boy here we go again.

Guy does some research on TW and eventually pulls the trigger on a leveling kit. He puts the kit on and all is good (so he thinks) then immediately becomes an expert on lifting Tacomas and is able to answer all the questions he once had.

So you recommend a comp that sells non tapered 2" blocks, a diff drop kit which is nothing more than a few bolts and tall washers, and sway bar relocate bracket that’s just a piece of aluminum or steel with 4 holes drilled.... super!
I'll assume the lift in the front is achieved by a strut spacer?

Give that kit and alignment some time and report back to us

    This ^

OP seems very confident. No point in telling him otherwise, he will figure it out on his own in due time.
