That sux, my 14 with 2700 miles got rear ended by some ignoramus reading a paper 2 months after I bought it. Un attentive drivers are everywhere these days, between phones, makeup, eating and phucking with kids in the back seat- see it all day everyday. I drive 100 miles a day, so I see a lot of stupidity. Yeah their insurance pays, but you're still out the time and effort to fix something that clearly wasn't your fault.

    Glad you're OK!

Op, make sure you peruse diminished value with her insurance carrier. My wifes 2011 Subaru Outback got deuced when it was two months old and had 2K miles on the clock. My state doesn't defend DV claims, but some do.

We got phucked in the end, because the claim showed up on our CarFax, which cost us $4K under book value at trade in. Wife hated the car after it was repaired, as it was never quite right gain, eventhough we had it fixed at a reputable shop Subaru recommended. Paint match was not quite right either ever again, in the end, wife got a new 2013 Outback and shes happy.

Anyway I hope this works out in the end, we had to sue the dude that hit my wife as he hit a brand new Hyundai Elantra, which slammed into our Outback. Elantra dude got a hospital ride and his car was written off. Since the guy that hit everyone had the state minimum insurance, everything was maxed out after the Hyundai guys hospital bills, and totaled car. His Ins told us "Your basically on your own, since our client is maxed out on his coverage's"

    Welcome to the club.

Be sure you do some research on the peeps who will do the repair work. It sounds like you will need to have the frame checked out as well as the front end. Hopefully, the frame isn't bent.

The woman who hit me, totaled her Jeep Grand Cherokee and did ~$9k worth of damage to my truck. At least she admitted to looking in the back seat before hitting me :(

I believe that my insurance (Mass. ) covers "under insured" and "uninsured" motorist as well. I think it's a separate line on my policy but not sure what the cost is. I assumed you checked your policy? It makes sense to me that the banks would want this for all vehicle loans for situations just like this... to cover their own a$$.

That sucks. Same thing happened to me in my Tundra and the person wasn't on there families insurance. Luckily my uninsured motorist covered it.

Stacey got rear ended in her brand new sorento 3 months after she bought it. Jack ass didn't even attempt to stop. She got it fixed and fought the insurance co. Ended up getting a diminished value check for 2500.00 plus all the other stuff. The guy that hit her his insurance company tried to pull bs about there is no such thing as dv he didn't like it when her insurance called and schooled him like a 2 yr old

Maybe because we drive the most popular truck in it's class and there are a lot them out there ... :notsure:

Glad your OK Op ... good luck with the insurance and truck replacement or repair.

Might want to get checked out medically ... a hit like that from behind can do damage you might not feel right away. Don't sign off on anything medical with the insurance people until you're sure. Just my 2 cents FWIW.

I've got a reinforced plate bumper on order. I'd go over to her house late at night with a ski mask and baseball bat :) Distracted driving in this country is a big problem. And, the gooberment is concerned about someone buying a "Big Gulp" :(
