    Hey guys,

Well, long story short, the driver's side link of my sway bar came undone. It ended up causing the CV boot to get damaged and the sway bar link to to get bent almost 90 degrees. Somewhere in the process, my alignment also got a tad messed up. Here are the pictures:

You have aftermarket suspension so I'd just do away with the entire sway bar

Wow you have cv grease everywhere!

just ditch it ............ relearn the way ur truck corners in a safe area........... then practice avoidance maneuvers in a parking lot or something.

Ittl sway some but its something u can get used to.

now, those 5 lane changes may take some practice but ittl work out and the true independent nature will pay off.

I would make the shop that screwed up replace the damaged parts and install everythiing as it should be.

Then later if you feel like removing it, do it. At least then if you change your mind you can go back with no expense to you.

Not trying to steal this thread but I had one question because I was trying to find out if anyone detaches their sway bar when out on certain trails. I have experienced this with Jeeps but have never seen it done with a taco. Is that an option on the trail? disconnecting the sway bar links? If so, then what is the best way to go about it?

Sorry for your troubles man. I'd be pretty upset if it happened to me.

Similarly interested. Apparently in BC, the RCMP frequently check 4x4s to see if they've removed their sway bars and like to hand out inspection notices for it. I know someone with the Jeep quick disconnects and he received an inspection notice for driving on highway with the sway bar disconnected.

^So how would that work for trucks like mine that cannot have a Swaybar due to LT?

Adjustable valves. Take the sway bar off adjust the stiffness of your shocks until you're happy with you body roll.

This is a good point. I'll have to do some homework now. Maybe the gent that told me this was full of it or didn't fully understand the reasoning for his inspection notice.

The shops going to make everything right for me. Right now, I've completely removed the sway bar. I'm not sure what I think of it quite yet. I haven't had a chance to take the truck offroad yet. I don't know how you would go about a quick disconnect for our trucks, but I can tell you that just disconnecting the sway bar links from the spindles leads to some issues haha.

Understood. But if you're telling andlours its ok to drive on it and just throw away the sway bar then what is the difference? It's easy to tuck away or remove the sway bar if you want?

If you completely remove the sway bar from the truck - then there's nothing to interfere with the CV boots. The truck can be driven that way. But if you just disconnect one or both link ends - the disconnected sway bar ends will colide with the CV axles as the suspension cycles, tearing them.

The OP isn't in Canadia. If they start inspecting in New Mexico we have some real issues to take care of.

So I have Toytec Coilovers with the Eibach Springs & 5100s inside. That's good enough to be able to remove the sway bar?

Sounds good. How much travel is really gained from removing ones swaybar? Significant amount?

a couple of inches of flex. but more so a much smoother ride, as the front can actually work independent.

I took mine off and its never going back on.... and im on 5100's with stock TRD OR coils @ 1.75 and its not scary at all like people make it seem.
