Dunno, I'd much rather have an almost new truck for 25k than the satisfaction of the dealership losing some money.

This is a great story! Yelp is FULL of "bait and switch" stories posted about car dealerships of all makes, and it's great to see a happy ending for once. Glad you came out on top!

^Not to threadjack but frame rust was the fault of an individual (not all) frame fabrication company Toyota contracted if I read correctly, all of which have been recalled.

    Congrats on the truck!

I would have raised the issue as well, then followed up with Toyota corporate for bait and switch sales practices.

Well that sucks and I can't blame you for getting a new truck after that. I would be burnt at that point. I believe the recalls were very recent. Sorry you got dealt the wrong hand  Ever consider buying another with a frame warranty/other protection?

IMHO your warranty is worthless if you go back to that dealer. They will give it to you in every orifice in your body if they get the chance.

You did good but stay away from them and be sure all the people you know do the same.

This assumes that the service department and sales department even know the other exists. I'll let folks in the business more recently chime in, by my experience is that they don't.

In six months it will be all new personnel. Dealerships have very high turnover. Most salesmen have their names written on their business card in ink.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
The story is far from over for that dealership; trust me. They are in big (and I mean big) trouble. Good for you op!

Good price on the truck but after being treated like that I wouldn't have given that stealership a penny of my money.

Doesn't surprise me. I worked as a detailer at two different dealers in my early 20's. The amount of underhanded crap I saw was amazing. Bait & switch, double charging for options, hiding known issues/damage, etc. I even saw a used mustang with known "lemon" issues sold and returned twice. Yet they still sold it a 3rd time. The worst was listening to the salesman brag to each other about how badly they'd screwed someone. May they all burn in hell.

Had a similar problem with a Ford dealer. Took several weeks and a few complaints but got the vehicle from them at the advertised price literally out the door. No tax, dealer prep or any other add on. Signed by the owner and his wife of the dealership. Anytime I had a problem with service I just said "Call the owner and tell the owner that Mr. $&!?& is unhappy again" No problem after the call.
