Obviously there are advantages to diesel engines. Its still a niche market. If I wanted a diesel, there is no way I would get rid of my Tacoma for GM POS. Some might make the change but after the good ol' GM quality kicks in, then reality will hit.

This. I don't care if they come with 5 diesel engines, it's still made by Obama Motors and I won't touch it. I'd rather buy a Tacoma without an engine in it. You have to realize something about GM, their quality has always been piss poor. I've owned 4 of their raggedy vehicles to know what I'm talking about. The little things always screw up on them. You can't change quality overnight and I don't care how many bailouts they get all they know how to do is build cheap ass vehicles and now they're overcharging for their crap. Go look at their prices. It's like Dollar General quality with Macy's pricing. It's damn ridiculous really. Screw their new raggedy pos trucks, I won't even bother to go look at them when they're released because I know what to expect.

Time will tell how reliable and durable these little diesels will be. Modern diesels are a pain in the ass to maintain and service now with DPF and DEF and fuel filters etc...
Im also very curious about the pricing of these little beasts! I bet its going to be outer limit crazy! But I give props to GM for attempting to revive the small truck segment

When I worked in Mexico the company mainly had chevrolet vehicles, from little cars with truck beds to fleet trucks and suburbans for the higher ups. The suburbans were very nice overall and reliable, most of the fleet was also reliable. I've had worse luck with Ford fleet vehicles, but I have never bought either for myself. For those of us that want a diesel taco this is a no loose. Hopefully Ford steps up with the baby powestroke ranger and let the war begin. I'll get another taco and wait 3-5 years to see what is the best most reliable diesel option, hopefully we will have a toyota by then.

I traded in my 04 Canyon for my Tacoma. I was dissapointed with the amount of money I had to put into it in the last year so when I would have dumped another $600-700 into it, I decided enough was enough. I had it for 5 years and had all the scheduled maintenance done as needed. I only had 90k on it and I used it for moving stuff, as my commuter vehicle, and to haul my canoe around, so I wasn't hard on it.

    I don't think I'd go back to a GM.

Ehh I'm not jealous , I'm sure it will have great mpg and power . But in the end your still buying a General Motors vehicle , I bet it won't have the awesome reliability and dependability like our toyotas .

And like sound wave mentioned above , the maintaince on the newer diesels is very costly . There's all types of emissions related controls and fluids . I have a buddie that has a new f350 and he said what saves on fuel costs he losses each time he does his schedules maintaince .

    - Locking tailgate handle
    - Bed lights built into 3rd brake light housing
    - No LED tail lights
    - Crappy Goodyear SR-A probably one of the OEM tire choices
    - Rubbery front air dam will be ripped off when wheeling
    - Rear axle shock mounts will dig into the ground when wheeling
    - Bad rear shock position forces exhaust pipe closer to centerline of vehicle, requiring low-hanging heat shield over spare tire

So what's uglier, Nissan Frontier or 2015 Colorado?

It might be so bad. I mean I finally saw a 2014 4Runner and the front end looked decent compared to the pictures

TopSpeed.Com was surprisingly close with its headlight rendering. This is the real thing:
