Not looking for why the V6 is better, or why I should have gone that route. This is what I'm working with now, and I'm interested in pulling perhaps 2700-3500 lbs tops. I was wondering if I'm going to kill my truck doing so. At the most I would be pulling a pop-up trailer or small travel trailer.

Perhaps your answer could be found here, in the towing section?

If I recall correctly, your maximum tow rating will be 3500lbs.

However, weight aside I would consider the amount of drag that the trailer has. A light trailer with a lot of drag will "appear" heavier at highway speeds.

Having had a 2.7 a small popup would be OK. You won't kill the truck with 3500# but you had better allow for extra time it will be slow and any thing over 1000# needs brakes and a trans cooler.

Small pop up should not be a problem as there is little wind resistance. Travel trailer could be a problem even under weight do to sail area of trailer. Never ever believe a RV sales person on what you can tow. Do tour own homework on the issue of camper towing.
