Hey, i'm new to the forums and I am currently looking into to buying a newer Tacoma this month and I need some Help.

I went to go look at 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport/SR5, double cab, manual, short box yesterday being one of the only few iv'e actually been able to find in my area in months. The Tacoma has 17,000 km on and is currently siting on a Toyota dealership for $33,330. I traveled pretty far to go view it and being a 2013 I was expecting for the truck to be in relatively great condition. As I walked around the truck a few things I noticed that had me concerned right off the bat. The whole truck was literally covered from top to bottom in light clear coat scratches were it has obviously been dragged threw the bushes quite a few times. Another thing was the underside of the truck was extremely muddy and things like some ground wires connections and shock struts were already rusting decently, as well as I looked underneath and the axle/engine cover was dented pretty good, clearly from being abused off roading. I just wanted to know you're professional opinions on whether stuff like this is common to find on such a new truck and whether you think its a fair asking price? Anything I should look out for?

    Thanks!

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
33k buys you a new truck. Offer them 22k. 25k tops or screw 'em.

I know they hold their value but I would walk away from that one at that price.

Oh I also forgot to mention I'm in Canada. I have looked into the exact same package configuration but in the 2014's and it seem's like the common asking price from the local dealer's are $39,000 new.

The Canadian Toyota web site says a new SR5 double cab 4x4 with manual transmission is $32,295. The TRD Sport package is a waste of money. It gets you a fake hood scoop and some color-matched body parts (whoop-de-fucking-do). The TRD Sport also has "sportier" fabric on the seats that will get covered up by aftermarket seat covers anyway. You'd get a lot better truck for the money if you just got a new SR5 instead. Even if you had to order it and wait 3-6 months, it would be worth it because you'd have a brand new truck in a color you picked yourself. I think you could also select vinyl all-weather flooring instead of carpet if you were so inclined, since carpet in pickup-trucks is the worst thing since the invention of nerve gas.

Thanks for the help, i'm going to take the sr5 in to consideration. The only thing I dislike about it all the chrome and not having the bed outlet. Which would be a great thing to have since i work in the steel fabrication & construction industry. I found a 2014 sr5, double cab, manual priced at 32,000 with 10,000km that i'm going to look at. Lets hope this one wasn't beat to shit as well.

Tell them to go pound sand on that price.
I bought a new 2014 TRD Offroad 4x4 for about that.

I had to order this and they didn't want to deal on it very much.
After a little arm twisting we had a deal and they backed off the price some.

    Holeee sh#t, $39,000 for a new one.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

For that amount of money and what you said you noticed what was wrong with the truck. Walk away fast and go buy a new one.

You'll quickly find the outlet is useless for any sort of power tool. It's only 3 amps I believe.

Buy a new one. Or wait for the 2015s. You're not gonna regret it. Stay away from used.

At that price, I would stay away unless it was mint. There are obvious signs of abuse, and sounds like for an extra 5k or so you could buy a brand new one.

A little unrelated but question for you Canadians; One thing I don't understand is why are these trucks so much more expensive in Canada? I bought my brand new 2013 TRD OR DC in the U.S. for 31k.

Is it a Canadian Govt tax thing due to your free healthcare, do people in Canada make more money than in the U.S., or what is the deal with the super high Canadian pricing? With the currency exchange rate currently at 93%, it seems like that would add maybe about 2k to the price of a Canadian vehicle, but they seem to be consistently priced at least 8k more than in the U.S. Apparently a Toyota Rav4 built in Woodstock, Ontario costs less in Hawaii than it does in Ontario! lol How could that be?

Did some research and it seems to be related to really high Canadian govt tarrifs on almost everything. I can only assume that some of the insanely high tariff revenue must getting used to support your free healthcare system.

Not sure why there are so many people telling OP to buy a new one for the same price, when he posted that new ones in Canada go for 39k! Obviously he can't buy a new one for that price, even if it's less than what you bought yours new for in the U.S. I'd still finance the extra 5k or so needed and buy the new one anyway though.
