Bad Gas Mileage Problem

My speedo is off slightly. If i calculate my mileage based on my Trip it says i am getting in between 17.5 and 18 consistently. And i dont do much highway driving. I have a 3" spacer with 285's and my gas mileage didnt even go down enough to tell honestly. Drive light footed, thats what my problem was when i was younger, driving like a bat outta hell.

 

This guy is right. I have read online where there has been research done that has proven the worst time to fill your tank is when its hot outside. You have more gas evaporation during the transfer from pump to tank during the high heat. Also, not pumping it so fast helps slow the evaporation rate. There are numerous other tips but those are both very true.

 

33"s are about 10% larger than stock so you really are getting 253 miles out a tank.

With 255/85/16 tires and a lift I get about 250-300 miles from a tank before odo correction. Stock intake with clean filter and air sensor. Tires properly inflated.

 

The longer the tank is open (during slow fill) the more evaporation "could" occur, but under already saturated gas vapor the fuel doesn't evaporate more.

Virtually immeasurable gain, not 10%.

But if you read it online........

 

If you have a smart phone just download a GPS app that has mph read out on it.

Works great on boats to see how fast you are actually going since the gauges are not that accurate at higher speeds.

 

When you put it that way, it sure does sound absurd.

It's the nearly 2 gallons that evaporate while I add 18 gallons that hurts.

 

And then there is the negative impact of ethanol...
