Front diff seal leaking. Askin for help/opinion

    My buddy said it is either ripped or not set at the correct depth. Im not sure hed make the trip down but hes done them before on trucks at the dealer with no issues

    I was focusing on the bushing but this may give you some idea of the proper depth.

    He didn't say what the depth should be... I don't think he would know off the top of his head... But he said if its not ripped it is "not seated right" which would be depth... I can see if he can give me a guestimation on depth for you

    Kev is that the drivers side?? Looks like it. Hard to tell. What I gathered today there is no bushin on that side. Still not 100% sure. Toyo said no...but I dont trust them.

    Did you read Chase's post about the needle bearing on the passenger side??

    read this again, post #400. Chase from ECGS explains about the design on the passenger side.

    I would just pull the cv, install a new seal yourself & be careful when putting the cv back in. knock the seal in a little further than flush.

    Don't worry yourself with passenger side bearings. I really loathe those diff seals, but if you want an extra hand, you can stop by my work when I'm on 3rd shift. I start Friday night @ 11pm to 6am and will be on that shift til next Friday.

    A immediate significant leak like that indicates. The seal is torn, or spring popped off the inside.

    Also make sure the housing is not damaged where the seal was removed causing the oil to leak out around seal if this is the case, Put RTV on the outside of the seal.

    There is a needle bearing/bushing on the Pass side but it is inside the carrier and does not support the CV shaft so it is not an issue for seal leakage.

    When you remove CV check new seal on CV shaft and make sure it is a good fit. I don't see how it could happen but the CV shaft could be undersized.
