Anymore other owner experiences? Been eyeballing the updated 4runner TE lately, but its just a small thought at the moment.

I so want to get rid of my taco for a 2015 4Runner... I had one as my loaner when I got my frame replaced and really loved how it drove and handled, and it has more inside room compared to my access cab, which I need car seats don't fit great in my truck very well lol.. So soon I'll prob sell the taco and get the 4Runner after the new year... If I'm lucky...

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Think if I get a 4Runner it will be a first gen with the removable top, those make a BADASS off road machine! But I needed the truck with the bed for what I do so that is why I went with Tacoma. Both are great rigs, just go with what you need.

If I could get enough cash for Taco, it be a bit more tempting. Im sitting at 175,000 miles, so its more of a financial decision holding me back. I’ve had my Taco for 7 years, so some boredom/time for change/“upgrade” influencing me a bit, planned on keeping it forever. So wondering if switch from Taco to 4runner has been a positive experience aside from financial side of things.

    4runner convert here.

Will probably pick up an old toyota pickup or tacoma for a beater trail truck but the 2014 4runner Limited is leagues ahead of the tacoma in comfort and features

I actually bought my wifes 4Runner before I bought my Tacoma and, just my opinion, the 4Runner is the better vehicle. If a truck was not an absolute necessity for me, I would have had one already. The one thing about it, the 4Runner has a better ride, better fuel mileage and a hell of a lot more comfortable on long journeys.

I had a DCLB sport taco and then my wife got a 2011 4Runner limited. It really hit home how much the "top of the line" taco lacks in features. I guess the newer ones have leather now?

The taco got really cramped for us, 2 dogs, and a baby on the way so I went up to a tundra. The 4runner with folded seats is about as versatile, if not more, than the Tacoma. It may be different if i weren't in Texas where I can't put them in the bed like 5 months out of the year because of the heat.

A buddy of mine has a 14 4 Runner and I have the 11 Taco. We both agree that they feel very similar in most regards. He swears my Taco rides better than his 4runner though. I don't think so. He didn't want or need a bed, and I want and need a bed. So the choice was simple for both of us.

Go drive one, you will see it feels mostly like your truck in most ways.

Like others have said, it's what the Tacoma needs to be and hopefully soon the Tacoma will get some of this good stuff. I have a good 5x10 utility trailer but I still miss the truck bed at times.

its a beautiful SUV. would be my first choice for an SUV but its not what the tacoma needs to be. tacoma needs updated but it doesnt need to be an SUV.

 Congrats! Love the 4Runner TRD Pro and in that color. It's everything I want in a SUV minus the crappy fuel mileage :D

I agree. The Tacoma doesn't need to be an SUV. You're reading a little too much into my statement.

Looks like a mini sequoia. Not bad at all though. Too bad Landcruisers are so damn expensive now.

NO TOYOTA is manufactured with leather! only Lexus! Leather is an option that is added after they are manufactured. owned several toyota's a few lexus, got to know the sales mangers, dealership owner and the system pretty well. even toyotas we special ordered on the bill of laiding would specify the leather upgrade. easy way to tell, examine leather in a toyota and a lexus, the toyota you can tell the leather is an installed upholstery and is much thicker and tougher than the lexus. the lexus is softer, and thinner and molded to the seat cushions, if you really examine both you can tell. what sucks about the lexus leather though, the lexus leather you have to constantly clean and treat if it is a light color or the seats WILL slightly change in color over time based on how often they are used. one of our lexus i sold years back, (exterior was PERFECT like thousands of other lexus's people took care of) but i treated and cleaned the leather EVERY 2 weeks since bought new, the FIRST lady who came see, it opened the driver door, said i'll take! she had been looking for 2 months and that was the first one with tan leather interior she saw that all the seats matched perfectly!

am i a fool for wanting a jeep grand cherokee overland/summit over a 4runner? i recently checked them both out because my wife wants a SUV... after insisting we test drive both, the jeep is more comfortable and has better warranty plus that air ride offers better ground clearance.. oh yeah better mpg and power..

jeep has made leaps and strides in their durability too, while toyota just seems to be getting softer..

I can say this pay whatever for the grand Cherokee and you will lose 75% of it driving off the lot. 4runner not so much..I found a few nicely loaded 2013 jeep grand Cherokee for 21 to 23 grand on auto trader. Not Laredo model. 40k+ new

well I guess my 2014 4Runner LE, must have missed the check box on getting the upgrade on leather since it only comes in leather. and its a different leather than the SR5/TE versions.

This debate really hits home for me. I've owned 3 Tacomas (current one is a '10 DCSB Sport, my favorite so far) and last year had a 2011 4runner trail model with katzkin leather. For comfort, features and ride, hands down the 4runner. Loved the looks and capabilities. Traded it back for my current taco due to life changes and finances. Having only one vehicle, I have to choose a truck every time because of the bed. I use it more often than I think. The 4runner has ample space inside, but there are some things that are better left in the bed for me.

So evaluate how you use your vehicle. I would love another 4runner for the features it had on it, but need to have a bed, so I have a taco. If you don't use the bed, get the 4runner.
