Depends on what you're Going to load in the travel trailer or carry it empty. And do you have the towing package.

Factory tow package puts a DCSB V6 towing capacity at 6400 lbs. I towed a 5000 lbs trailer across the US with little issue beyond 10-13 MPG.

Mine is 24ft and close to 5k loaded up. Pulls it fine although she doesn't like mountain passes. Make sure to get a brake controller.

I pull something that's around 4k loaded. Mileage sucks at around 10. I hear that you'll get the same with something bigger. You can drag something in the low 5k range with a brake controller. Sure you'll be fine.

Attached is the '10 vehicle specs. If you go to page 5 it lists everything for towing. Like others said, how much you can tow depends on whether you have the Toyota Tow pkg or just a hitch attached. Also, you need to know how much weight you're towing, tongue weight and Gross Combined Weight. Most of your questions are also answered in the Towing Bible.

Went to pull my daughters school stuff home in a uhaul; Phila to Va. They gave me a 6x12 cargo trailer, with a gross weight of 4400# (empty is 1920). Was not problem except the extra axles tripled the tolls.

Here is what UHAUL sez that is important......

The curb weight of your tow vehicle must be at least 80% of the loaded weight of the trailer. (This is so you can actually STOP the trailer safely).
Must have 1-7/8" or, 2" hitch ball (3,500 lbs. minimum) (probably should go for 5k lbs)

Don't most uhaul trailers have surge brakes, ie no wiring (except for lights) involved ?

Stupid question. I have a factory hitch and wiring harness. Does that mean I have the tow package? Is there someplace on the door I can look to find out? Love to have it. Been thinking about a small trailer for camping.

Why, yes I do. That's awesome. I learn something here every time I visit.

    Thanks Jake.

There's a code on a sticker on the driver's door jamb. Match it to the code listed in the owner's manual and you'll have the exact rating YOUR truck is rated for.
