You can ask him how far the truck is located because they will have to drive the truck to your dealership and they should tell you how many miles will be on the truck. Based on distance you can figure out which dealership it is.

Another option is, last time I was at a Toyota dealership, I was watching the salesman use the database to locate the specific vehicle I wanted. Tell the salesman what options you want, ask if you can verify it on his screen, look to the first few columns and you will see the distance the truck is located from your dealer and you will also see a dealership code. As long as you can match the dealership code with a dealership name, you can figure it out.

I haven't heard that and I'm going to pray it's not true because that color is absolutely beautiful. I'm off today, will check on it for you tomorrow

Actually "found" two by searching Toyota's buyatoyota.com website, region by region.

So I'm looking for the SR package and it turns out that both were actually SR5 packages and neither salesperson knew the difference.

Frustrating to say the least. Waiting now to hear back when a 2015 can be delivered; I've been told 3 months at the earliest, 6 months at the latest.

    Wow, three months.
It took five weeks to get my 2014 when I ordered last September.

That is what happened last time I went to the dealership when they called me to buy my truck back. Every sales man kept telling me SR package doesn't exist and kept telling me there was only an SR5, so I asked them, can I look at the book/database they using and I searched it for them. The SR is a different code than the SR5, but I forgot what the SR code was. It is sad when I can find the vehicle using the system for the first time and they work there.

    Tell me about it!!

I've had FOUR "salesmen" text me pictures/video of my "new, awesome Tacoma" with ... the SR5 package!!

It is frustrating dealing with people who don't know what they're doing. It seems apparent that I will have to order the truck I want, and the best guess by the dozen or so "Internet Sales Managers" I've dealt with is 6-12 weeks.

    Toyota, get your *&*^ together!!

Isn't there a complete redesign for 2016? Why not wait for that?

Thanks for doing that! I'm actually looking for a Pyrite 4x4 2.7 5spd manual w/ the SR package :)

Because I'm ready to buy one today.

It was $500 under invoice, my salesman showed me the invoice price on his computer, and that was around 3k under MSRP.

Dealers don't pay invoice, they pay under it. Invoice is their price from the factory before other dealer holdback and cash incentives are applied, and these incentives can be significant. Trust me they didn't make negative money by offering the truck slightly under invoice.

Do a Google search on "Do car dealers pay invoice", check out a couple of the links talking about factory to dealer incentives and you'll see what I mean.

I'm happy to see someone else here knows this.

Dealers refer to folks who believe in invoice prices as 'pigeons'.

I've already been quoted $400 under invoice on any truck I order by one dealer. The goal remains $1000 under invoice, which works out to 90% of MSRP. Judging by the "What did you pay for your Tacoma" thread I linked earlier, 90% of MSRP is not uncommon.

You ever think they just want to sell you what they have in stock? I would try and do the same, but if my customer was demanding like I was I would find him one. My salesman got my truck from another state. Had it hauled in. 5 miles on odo. I was demanding and he was good.

    Better luck!

This is actually quite normal; not trying to make enemies but i've heard it said " the best sales person is an ignorant one " - translated that if you know too much you'll talk yourself out of a sale...

Dealers do try to sell what they have in stock or can easily get. Ignorance (i.e. strict attention to the sale of a shiny new vehicle) is a benefit. So if all they have/order is SR5's then that 'all there is'. If you catch them, it's an 'oh...good catch but look at the SR5 features - see shiny shiny shi......"
    You get the point.\
Story time: One dealer swore he could get me my 02 taco at another dealer only 50 mi away. When he said it was in, I went out to buy it and it was the wrong interior/equipment. He KNEW that (picture 'good manager' and bad salesman routine)- just wanted to get my sign on a 30 day contract. So i had to wait 29 more days...and i missed 0% financing. Still got the sale, but that'll never happen again.

Yes I do. But when their own website lists the SR package and it turns out to be the SR5 ... I'll take all the luck I can get, thanks!

This type of business/person never gets my hard earned energy (currency).

I couldn't care less, but the truck I want needs to be ordered; no more orders on '14s, '15s only.
