I'm wonder how many of you that have taken your vehicle in for inspection for the 05-08 corrosion recall have been offered a buy back. If so how much did they offer you and what was your truck worth?

I'm looking at trading mine in on a 2015 4runner, which I wont be able to get my hands on until approx november. I was talking to one sales person and she informed me not to take it in for the inspection prior to trading it. This made me wonder if she was thinking they would offer me a buy back that is more than what they were offering as a trade in.

Mine will for sure need the frame replaced as there is a hole right through the frame up by the passenger cat.

I didnt think so either, but I've read that a couple people have been offered over kbb value for theirs, also when I talked to the salesperson she said that they have had it happen a couple times.

Mine got inspected today...Toyota CS rep said my vin wasn't included. I politely disagreed. After a couple of "holds", I was told a regional rep would call me back in 24hrs. & gave me a new case number. She also asked if my truck had always been registered in NY...I said first 3yrs was in VT. Now in NY since 10/08

I just had mine inspected today too and am waiting for them to get back to me. The service manager looked it over before they put it on the lift and told me that my frame wouldn't be getting replaced. I told him it would, lifted it, showed him the hole in my frame, and then he changed his perspective. He has sent pictures off and said he would get back to me when they let him know the outcome. It could work out perfect for me, if they take a couple weeks to get the parts and then a few weeks to do the repair it will be just in time for my 2015 4runner to show up from special order :D :D

OT. but I crawled under my '13 with 27K on the clock and saw some rust beyond the surface that i don't like. I was doing axle breather mod andlooking around. is Dana still doing frames for Toyota?

Reason I ask. Dana did the rearends for Titans. major recall. my titan had and did recall. previous owner. 12K later i buy only to find dana installed axle plug in axle! no breather. surprise. blown seals. cheap parts, major labor.

I wouldn't trust dana to put a flint in my lighter these days. back in the day, so respected.

Rust is bound to happen on any vehicle, especially if you havent been applying any corrosion compound to it.

I had their croc applied in 08 when I bought it....absolutely no evidence of it anywhere on the frame. Everywhere else yes it's still visible. 9 years & a frame rotting from the inside out in unacceptable!!!

2007, inspected, passed, and coated. Bought and lives in NH for all years of ownership. I inspected myself first and found nothing outside of normal scaling at the weld points. They de-scaled and coated it all.

They have offered me about 15,000 trade in on my 05 access cab, 6spd, which is 3k more than the top book value on it right now, but I was going to wait to see what happens with this corrosion issue first. I plan on ordering a 2015 4runner and wont have it until oct/nov so hopefully they can put me in a courtesy car until then.

the rust was pretty bad, I had made a post about it 4 years ago. Ive been painting it since I got the truck so it was hard to tell unless you got under it. There was about 1.5" hole through the frame by the passenger cat. Any perforation at all and they will replace the frame as far as I know.

I am already seeing a few 2GENs on the back lot of my Toyota dealer.
All have "need frame" on the windshield & their plates are off.
I walk Simon by this lot almost everyday.
pic from last night in Burlington, Vt
    maybe someone on here???
The last go around (1GEN) this lot was overcapacity
I have a picture somewhere of all the ones heading to the crusher so sad. :(
