All right small problem guys, I bought my 08 taco in Arizona and modified the air intake system. When I moved to the "wonderful" state of California I had to get her smogged and it didn't pass:eek:. Dont get me wrong the air coming out her tailpipe was actually cleaner than the air it breathed in, but since Airaid doesnt have an EO (executive order) number for the 08 Tacos from the CARB (California air regulation bitches) they failed me. Not Airaid's fault, CARB has not updated the numbers since november of 2007. Any ideas? Before you all ask, no i dont have the stock part because I was an idiot and didn't see the point in keeping a peice of plastic, which insidentally the dealer wants to charge me $600 for.

Please help me, Im currently patroling Pick & Pulls but to no avail.

The realy shitty part is I am registering my Truck in a rural area that doesnt need smog ever again, but since the first time in cali it has to be done. Why the hell does the air intake matter in emmisions anyway? I know the Tacos have a carbon trap in the intake system but why does my truck have to be cleaner than the gas hog Ford Bronco?

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
Don't waste your time at Pick-N-Pull. 99% of the cars and trucks they have are 20+ years old. Newer Japanese cars get sold to import parts dealers. So look around for Japanese salvage yards. Either that or go on Ebay. Toyota trucks almost always get picked clean immediately.

Part# 510-179 is legal in CA.

    Do this:

Take a photo of your intake, email it here:

    airaidinfo@airaid.com

along with you info (name, address, vehicle info), and they will mail you a CARB sticker you can throw in the smog guys face.

There in lies my problem, it is cleared to the 07 NOT to the 08, even though nothing has changed at all. They wont clear me and i tried the part number thing and he said this, " Not my rules I dont know if your from the CARB to bust me." "guess it just sucks to be you"... By the way dont go to Smog Stop.

Send them the email, who cares if its for an 07, slap the sticker ON your intake, or right near it somewhere, and take it to a different smog shop.

Stock parts are pricy, the TRD CAI which is an after market but carb approved part would be cheaper.

Neither one is emissions certified. Hence the "For off-road use only" statement by both.
