I've have one complaint about my truck.

I live in the desert which wrecks havoc on plastic and rubber. Inside the fender well there are two rubber aprons that protect the engine from rocks and debris/water. This piece of rubber is just that a piece of rubber that is subjected to a lot of heat from the engine and is prone to deterioration and fatigue.

The question is....is there anyone who has made a new set and or fabricated a set from metal. I've asked before and was referred to Defined Engineering but never received a email back. So I'm asking again and to a newer crowd.

Is there someone willing to tackle this?

Maybe a one of the fabrication ships here like BAMF or BP?

I don't live in the desert but I know which part you're talking about. Does that really deteriorate? I know it's rubber-ish but it seems as if would take a lot of heat to destroy? Sorry I don't have a answer for you but I'm curious about the outcome and something to spend more money on which I like to do lol.

It's more of a fatigue. They flap around when driving and mine for example tore were the plastic push pins held them in. To replace them is expensive so there has to be an alternative to them. I was thinking maybe a thin aluminum.

I like your idea. I personally haven't seen anyone replace them but I'm sure there is someone on here that has. Hopefully they will chime in.

Those are for body lifts, but (if it's what you're talking about) might meet your needs?

I found some shelf covering material at Lowes that worked well. So far it has survived two winters in the rust belt and still looks like new. My truck was missing the drivers side when I bought it and I used the passenger side as a template. I think it was around $6 per roll and there was enough to do both sides.

Well we have a template.... How about transferring the the.plate to a truck mud flap.... And I mean a thick flap from a big rig place.

They make rubber everyday back east in different thicknesses, Go buy some and transfer the pattern to the new rubber and your set.

I got a bunch of pond liner rubber, it's about the same thickness as the fender liners that came off. Just get some rubber and start trimming it to fit

Do not use anything rigid. The frame and body flex at different rates.

The flap plugs on my 08' are hurting, but I just slapped silicone into the plug holes and so far so good.

Is that something you can get at Home Depot or Lowes?

How hard is it to pull the pins out?

I didn't intend for this question to come off so dumb, but I was wondering if they pulled out easily and without breaking. The reason I ask is that I need to remove one on each side to insert a frame plug that will be partially shrouded by the existing apron.

I am also making Carbon Fiber aprons right now and will have some for sale soon. These are part of the molds, but they would work if you dont mind the flashy-ness of the aluminum lol
