Just clay barred my truck and the only thing that didn't come off easy was all the sap on the hood and roof.
I messed around a bit and the only way I found to get it off was to rub it with the dry clay a bit, then wet clay bar it again, then grind at it with a micro fibre towel. It works but it's super time consuming. Anybody have suggestions for a better way to do it?
There's quite a few spots on the roof. Goo gone maybe?
    Thanks!

Try rubbing alcohol, if that doesn't work, 3M adhesive remover, paint reducer, or paint thinner.. That's what I would try, in that order.

I use WD-40 on everything. It also works really well for getting tar/gum/sap/grease out of the carpet and doesn't stain since most automotive carpet is synthetic fibers.

It shouldn't have. Never heard of that happening.

The Wd40, I could see that working but hopefully the vehicle never has to be painted, bc that would create a nightmare for a painter.

Butter sounds like it'd work too.

thanks for the help folks. I think i'll give WD-40 a shot. Although I had heard about the butter one, and my curiosity really might make me try that just because it sounds so insane.
    I'll report back.

Used Stoner's Tarminator for sap and overspray removal on my Jeep. It was amazing and did not hurt the clear coat so far as I can tell. The clay bar did nothing for the sap. Now in place of a clay bar I use a nanoskin pad on my DA polisher, works great.

So I went back to it with goo gone and wd-40. I want to try the butter thing at some point but I wasn't in the mood to bake today.
I found that what worked best was letting goo gone sit on the sap spots for maybe 5-10 min then picking at it with a finger nail.
The wd-40 performed pretty evenly with the goo gone with this technique. Let me be clear though, neither of these methods were great. Still a P.I.T.A. I think having some kind of scraping device that wouldn't hurt the paint would be a better option than finger nails. Wonder if a credit card might work? Might scratch I guess.
