Exactly! Tacoma's are simply the best mid sized truck on the market and worth the premium to own one. Dealers know this, other manufactures know this, and we all know this.

Honestly, the new GM models don't even deserve a second look. They are not a Toyota and the recalls will get old real quick for whoever buys one.

Yes. Theyre meteor proof and nessie proof, and seems like something else proof but they came out when 2nd gens first hit the market.

Problem is a Tacoma is the same price as an f150. Most people would buy the biggest thing for their money

I agree with this ^^^ Tacoma's are awesome but very expensive and it seems the prices go up every year.

well it's just when people go looking they are like hmmmm....i can get a corolla for $20k that gets 35-40mpg or i can get a tacoma for $35k that gets 16-18mpg.

for people that don't really need a truck it's an easy choice for them to get a corollla instead.

...and people that only want a truck and nothing else often go with chevy or ford or dodge full sized because they are cheaper and you get a v8 engine with them. so they are thinking hmmm a v8 i'll be super macho man!!!

i remember a few years ago when gas prices went up high. you could buy a tundra with the 5.7L v8 for 25k. it was cheaper than a v6 tacoma. most people would choose the v8 over a v6 especially if the price is lower.

most people just think bigger is better. that's not always the case. reg cab is much easier to park than a double cab.

'09-'11 where recession years in the US, so the fact that even through the massive recession, it's impressive Toyota still managed to move over 100k of these trucks.

I had a F150 years ago, never again.

My bad, GM and Chrysler took billions of our dollars.

    Ew, Frontier sales are up?

God I hate that truck. It looks alright, but the interior is such crap, I could not stand being inside of it.

What's funny is the range topping Tacoma in '05 & '06 could have been had for $25k respectfully. Was getting an oil change on my '14 last week, when I saw a white '13, DCSB, Off-Road sitting in the used section with $38K in big fluorescent stickers on the windshield.

Heck my ass puckered when I gave $25k for my '14 base, PreRunner which stickered for $28,300. I paid $15k in 2006 for a new standard cab, 5-lug, automatic. That same truck is now $19k which is obsurd for "basic transportation". I'm actually pissed my base PreRunner doesn't even have intermittent wipers for $25 large. $13k Kia's have intermittent wipers as standard equipment.

Frontier sales are up because they whore-errr Fleet those POS trucks to rental agencies and small companies, which can't otherwise afford a Tacoma. No live human is actually purchasing these.

Plus when I bought my '14, PreRunner (I wanted an AC, 5-lug) but was told due to EPA demands and such, Toyota was being forced to make less Tacomas despite demand. So essentially they slowed production of reg cabs & AC, 5-lugs and have been focused on more profitable fully loaded OR's, Limiteds and Sports.

I haven't seen a base or 5-lug in months at my local dealer, which I drive by at least 2-3 times a week, they are also the volume retailer in my area. They do however have about 12-15 fully loaded Tacomas in stock. Last week we were looking at getting a Camry for the wife, they had three loaded TRD-OR's sitting under the sold pavilion waiting to go home.

I rarely see a new Frontier on the road but see plenty of Tacoma's. You pay more for a Tacoma upfront but get back when you sell. All dealers want used Tacoma's. Hopefully that will continue to be the case.

I really wish someone would reign in the EPA and their regulatory powers. I think their usage of such powers are abusive at this point.

Do you have buyers remorse regarding your regular cab? Is that why you always have to rag on the more expensive access and double cabs? Look, we get it - you don't want to pay 30k for a truck. And lucky for you, the Tacoma comes in a large number of configurations and you didn't have to.

But the fact is that those 30K trucks that you are constantly crying about on here are in fact selling very well. Far more people are buying them than the cheaper regular cab. The year over year sales might be down a bit, but Toyota is still on track to sell 150,000 Tacomas this year. And even the used late model Tacomas, which aren't hardly any cheaper than a new one, are flying off dealer lots.

I don't see why they aren't at least worth a look. It helps to be objective and clear eyed instead of a rabid fanboy.

I have two things to say:

first off...the article was written by....DETROIT NEWS....where is GM's HQ? Of course they are going to bash the best selling truck ever.

second off...if they talk great news about trucks that are only doing half as good as the Tacoma, more people might actually buy the crappier truck thinking its the better truck, thus their goal is accomplished.

    such a political article, geez.

In the end, it's no cause for concern. Toyota's way in the black on this deal and their running the 2nd gen through '15 minimum. The numbers aren't off that much.

End of the day-who cares? Do you like your truck? I love my taco. Does everything I want just right. Don't much care how many are sold, whether someone buys a Colorado or a tacoma, etc. Chances are the Colorado will be a pretty decent truck. The way you guys talk one would think it liable to spontaneously combust! From what I've seen and what I do, tacomas better, but I'm sure the Chevy will do just fine.

this is just talk about if a nearly 10 year run is coming to an end or not.

seems not, if its doing 100k+ sales every year and the article is bragging that nissan did 44k.
