Went to change the tacoma battery today. 2013 trd double cab off road, and only 26k miles. Own almost 2 years. Maybe my luck or is the OEM battery this bad?

And yes it was covered under warrant 36k/3yrs.:D

OEM SS tube steps, Access LE tonneau cover, pop n'lock, AVS in-channel vent visors, stubby antenna, Wet Okole seat covers, bed mat, rear diff breather mod, 4 extra d rings in bed, K&N air filter.
OEM lasted ~ 29 months, less than 20K miles. Second OEM lasted about the same. Have an Autozone battery in there now Duralast Gold. Had one last 9 years in my Camry.

mine lasted 5 years and they said the amps were at 440 instead of 540 or something like that so i went ahead and replaced it.

really it's kind of cool they test it when you go in for an oil change these days. that way you can replace it before it leaves you stranded somewhere one day unable to crank the truck up.

Amazing battery. I put one into my Outback when I had it. That thing would crank over in -20 weather just as fast as it would if it was 70 degrees out.

My Tacoma has the original battery in it with about 62k on it. It seems fine. I've run the stereo + 8" sub for a couple hours up relatively high and it still started the truck without a problem.

I have the tow package, though, which apparently comes with a beefier battery. I wonder how much better it is than the non-tow package models.

Six years, about 70k miles. It was still starting the truck, but tested bad. So I replaced it when I did more as a preventative thing. It was starting to act a bit funny at times and I didn't want it to strand my wife who was pregnant at the time.

Am curious if those with batteries that failed early, checked and added distilled water to the chambers as needed to maintain proper volume over the life of the battery.

probably not. most people don't do that. i was told by someone if you do that and keep the posts clean a battery will last almost twice as long. but who has distilled water sitting around or takes the time to go buy some at the store just for that purpose?

Mine went 4 almost 5 years, 50k miles before it went. I noticed you in AZ too, that heat is hard on batteries, not uncommon when I lived there.

Distilled water is about $1.50 a gallon at most pharmacies and grocery stores.
