I think it is just part of the vehicle set-up procedure that they go through, especially in a state that requires a front plate. Most dealers also want their paper license plate logo front and center since that is obviously what sells vehicles for them.

The good thing about it is, you can still put an LED light bar in the lower without the plate blocking it.. I really like this.. may have to do something like it myself..

True, or driving lights, etc. I am not sure how I feel about a light bar yet except that they seem pretty pricy.

    Looks great !!!

I'd probably do something like this if the damn dealer hadn't already drilled two holes in my front bumper. Grrrrr.

You still can, I did. Two little holes show up a lot less than the plate up high.

Nice job. I bought the one from "Hawaii"(member), but I love yours cause it doesn't touch the bumper at all...

Make me one. Need it so I can move my license plate down for my winch to be visible.

Maybe I am just missing the point, but what is the big deal about mounting the plate by putting two small holes in the bumper? It's not like its going to rust as its plastic and does not require all that foolishness with bending metal and trying to figure out unique mounting alternatives. Seems like this is a solution in search of a problem.

Good job man. Way to be resourceful! I'm going to have to try this on my truck. My dealer wanted to drill holes in my bumper before I picked it up and had to call them immediately to tell them not to. CA is a B when it comes to the front plate laws, so this is a much better alternative.

Good idea! When I was reading through the posts here, I had another idea. What about a magnet that was strong enough to go through the plastic? Could mount it on the license plate, and then mount another magnet that is behind the plastic bumper.. Just another thought.

For some people it is no big deal at all. And if they feel that way then this thread probably has little to offer them. I liked the idea of the plate where I placed it so I found a solution that would allow me to have it there. To each their own. And for me personally, I enjoyed the foolish process and like the finished product. I looked at what was offered as an alternative at the time and did not find what I needed so I made it.

Not a bad idea but there might be a few problems. I am unsure of the access to the back side of the plastic in the correct spot to "install" the magnets. I am unsure if the magnets would be strong enough to hold the plate in all driving conditions. I have not sure how much the magnets cost. And lastly, it would be pretty easy to remove the plate by some hooligan if it was held on by only magnets. I would not feel that magnets would offer enough of a secure attachment method.
