Everyone seems to have their own take on maintenance intervals, manual present or not. For me I do the following on my Tacoma:

Every 5k- Oil and filter, tire rotation
Every 10k- Air Filter change, grease driveline
    Every 35k- Spark plugs
Every 40K- Front & Rear diff fluids
Every 50K- Manual Transmission oil change (maybe different if you have auto)
    Every 50K- Transfer-case oil change
Every 100k- Coolant flush & possibly ps fluid/brake fluid flush

Im sure some do more, some do less. This is only what I do.

I used to do oil about every 4 to 5k miles using synthetic on all my cars till this year. Now I am retired and just had 6 month Toyota Care oil change with synthetic oil I paid additional for. Truck only has 1280 miles on it. It is one of three cars at house with 2 drivers I will be doing a yearly instead of miles by the looks of it. When I doing 15k a year at least 3 oil changes with synthetic. Transmissions/ Rears/clutch/brake I have never changed with exception of performance vehicles at irregular intervals subject to how hard I was on it. I have recently had a dealer tell me it was time to change steering fluid and brake fluid as I had 58k on car it was a Honda CRV never abused driven by my wife. I declined for three reasons. One was I was trading CRV in on Tacoma following week two I looked at and smelled fluids and they appeared full and fine. The third reason was they tried to tell me cabin filter was dirty and I had just changed it one month prior so trust in anything they said was not there. As far as transmissions steering brake fluids on a non abused car I have taken the approach if not broke or leaking leave it alone. Over the years I had countless friends change transmission fluid when all was good only to find them putting transmission in car within year. Just an old guys opinion.

Diffs every 30k. Transmission... before 5 years/60k, this way if problems develop after the fluid change, you can take it in under warranty.
    ______________________

My daily commute is just 30 miles round trip (stop-and-go rush-hour grind on the highway), so I do all my fluids based on calendar time. Changed the rear diff oil after 1 yr (for break-in). Changed the front diff and t-case oil after 3 yrs. Changed the rear diff oil again after 4 yrs.
